Whiteout Happens in September

Update: We've been informed associate producer Ethan Erwin recently revealed at a Moonlight-related event that Whiteout may not see a release until 2009. A conflicting report from our news below which came to us internally from the studio. As release dates are always sketchy we'll just have to wait for official word to come in.

Whiteout, a murder mystery based on Greg Rucka's graphic novel of the same name, is blowing into theaters this fall. Sources tell ShockTillYouDrop.com that Warner Bros. is penciling in a September 19th release date for the the Dark Castle-produced film. It's a comfy spot right now booked for freaky family fare like Igor and Neil LaBute-directed "Sam Jackson's a crazy neighbor" flick Lakeview Terrace. If this changes, we'll let you know.

Directed by Dominic Sena, Whiteout stars Kate Beckinsale as a U.S. Marshall investigating the first murder in Antarctica. She must solve the case before the winter comes and plunges the continent into darkness. Tom Skerritt, Alex O'Loughlin and Columbus Short co-star.

I hope this release date doesn't change. I want to see this movie so badly and want to find out if exorcising the character of Lily Sharpe from this movie and adding in the male character of Price (-A possible nod to Vincent Price, anyone?-)was an excellent idea.

I'd love to see this film this fall as well, but I'd love to know how reliable your sources are at WB. This past weekend I talked to one of the Assoc Producers on the film, he was at the MoonlightCon in LA .. and he said that "Whiteout" won't be released until early 2009. He had mentioned it in his intro during the panel discussion, so I asked him specifically afterwards. I mentioned that we kept hearing "Fall '08" and he said it "definitely would NOT be released this fall".
So I'm confused. If anyone has any concrete source or info .. please email me.

Can't e-mail you, Maryp, if you don't supply any contact info. :P But I'll tell you my source came from within WB and it was actually the second time I had heard the solid news it was Fall '08.

But you know, these things change, so if there was a move, I wouldn't be surprised.

At the time of this news posting, the date was legit, or I wouldn't have run this piece.
