After a long wait, horror fans will finally be introduced to Bryan Bertino's
The Strangers, starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman who, in the film, become victims of a home invasion. With it's May 30th release from Rogue Pictures closing in, has Bertino been mulling over follow-up ideas in the event of having a genre hit on his hands?
"I feel that if there's a great idea they should make a sequel," he tells ShockTillYouDrop.com.
"Not make a sequel then come up with an idea. I spent so much of the last few years making The Strangers and trying to get it to a certain place that I haven't been thinking about anything other than trying to make it the best movie I could be. I've turned in my paper and I'm ready to get a grade."
When we spoke to him at Comic-Con (
interview), the young director revealed he was at work on another horror picture.
"It's a script I really love and Scott Rudin's got it. I've been really fortunate in the last six months to have the time to write a lot of different things. There are a lot of different possibilities. The more people are going to talk about The Strangers, the more doors are going to open up for me. The thing I'm most happy about is that I have more stories to tell."
Keep it here for our second interview with Bertino within the next week. And click on the film's title above for trailers, stills and more!

i saw the movie today, which is opening day for "the strangers" and it was definitly one of the scariest movies ive ever seen. its right up there with "dead silence" and "the messengers". i almost peed myself like 3 times.

All I can say is WOW! I seen it today and all I could think was "man that could really happen!" Please do not do a sequel and ruin the prestige and the authentic realization of the film, it would be a crime. Instead, a documentary of the opening lines of the 1.4 million violent crimes that go unsolved each year would be a much better follow up.

this ****in movie sucks i watch it the day it came out and i was so ****ini mad i wasted my money on this stupid shyt! me and most of the ppl in the movies were laughing hopinig the girl kristen got killed lol we didnt care, most people were talking on the fone if not texting, i think it would be so stupid to make a sequal, and to the person that said this was one of the scariest movies ever, that is a dam shame cause i know people can agree this shyt was boring!!!!!

Chris, you probably know like 30 people at most who though this movie was boring. I think if that's your opinion, than so be it...but i thought the movie was really creepy and scared the s*** out of me. It is just that dark lonely feeeling with you not knowing what is out there that can come get you. Everyone in the theatre that i was watching this movie with was screaming. no laughter occurred. I saw it again on June 1 and the same. There were two people that said it to be dumb...but those were the people who don't have an imagination and think 'I'm not scared i'm tough and brave... i would have beat them up"...ya okay. But those people have a shi**y mindset and don't know how to watch a movie. or even get into it. People watch movies and they hardly even pay attention. But anyways this movie was well done, well shot, and Bryan did a fantastic job directing it. It was awesome...a real jumper. The movie it self does not suck...if you can make something better than that.. then that will be the day.
i feel like a complete idiot because i just wasted 5 minutes of my time writing on a ****ing message board that is a waste of time... who cares what other people think of the movie...it made money...and writing on message boards is just a way of saying wow, i want to argue with people...who cares...i feel dumb now. Don't take anythin personal i fi offend you, im just an idiot. ha.

Chris,
You are an idiot and should not be allowed to breed. I've heard 5-year-olds construct sentences with more coherence than you.
The only reason a sequel would be made is to make more money. Which is always a producing houses first inclination when considering another project, not the artistic integrity of the work. So if, for the producers, it makes sense to fund another installment, it will happen. But don't count on it.
