looks like this movie has THEM all over it. it's pretty much the same idea or "re-telling" of the more superior and actually scarier french movie THEM.
after all these years in the business, Liv Tyler still can't act . she needs lessons. she still doesn't know tht sometimes you don't have to let out a loud fake scream to make it look like you're scared. compare her acting to the original girl in THEM and you will know what i'm talking about.

This is NOT a remake or homage (nor a "re-telling" or "re-imagining") of "Ils" (aka "Them"). The first draft of the script was written in 2004 which is before "Them" even was shooting, perhaps let alone even fully-written. There are a few similarities, sure, but they are two distinctly different movies.

Yawn...Generic.

No, J. Warner, of course he's right, it's his opinion, so it's most likely fact, right?

I hope that was sarcasm, Mike.

I'm sure it was, Warner. I'm actually surprised by the early, knee-jerk reaction attacks on this film...a lot of it coming from the same folks who bag on PG-13 horror. It's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" one can never be satisfied situation. Here's an R-rated offering. It looks like it has potential. But everyone insists on opening up on the film with both barrels...before even having seen it! What am I missing here? Is it the stars? The fact that it came "from Hollywood"? I've seen the film at this point, and although I have to reserve my thoughts until an embargo on the review is lifted, I'm kind've perplexed by the instant negativity in some of the comments.

it doesn't matter that the script was written in 2004. it took the "writers" about 3 year to figure out they had a piece of trash and decided it was easier to ripoff a better well made movie.
just kidding , lol .
all i gotta say is that both movies have a lot of similarities. the invaders breaking in the house and chasing the couple all over it.
even the ending has the couples in both movies getting murdered . the only difference is that in THEM the intruders wee identified as kids and were caught later on and the ones in STRANGERS were not.
i am so sure that the writers for STRANGERS are gonna say something like ...we have never seen the movie THEM.... always happens.
hollywood needs writers with fresh ideas . stop using foreign ideas.
i see this movie flopping after the first week. it might make a few bucks but it is going against another movie that opens a week earlier . INDIANA JONES 4.
INDY can be the same old formula but remake it isn't.

The naysayers can suck it. I, for one, am dying to see this flick. Enough with PG-13 crap!

I guess we'll just have to agree to completely disagree, jrrrz.

"What am I missing here? Is it the stars? The fact that it came "from Hollywood"?"
Yup. I may still check it out but with little to no expectations which will probably be fulfilled.

Wow... this is fricken terrifying! Some folks are so funny, calling this flick "generic". I'm going to like this film - these people are at least fighting back, unlike the family in "Funny Games" who just let bad things happen to them without a struggle. I like the fact that the husband had a gun in this clip. I get so tired of watching flicks where families don't own a gun. What kind of an American do you have to be to live in the middle of nowhere without a gun? :)
