John Farris' novel, The Fury, is getting a second life on celluloid.

Fox 2000 has commissioned writers Brian McGreevy and Lee Shipman - based on their lauded, unproduced script Of Every Wickedness - to pen a remake of Brian De Palma's 1978 film. The update will focus on "a young man with heightened kinetic powers who is abducted by the government in order to take advantage of his special gifts."

Farris adapted his own work for De Palma's version starring Kirk Douglas, Amy Irving, Charles Durning, John Cassavetes and Carrie Snodgress. Radar Pictures is producing the new project

This plot reminds me of Akira.

Man, they're really digging thru the scraps with this one. Does the fury really need to get the remake/reinvention bullsmack?

No it doesn't because Kirk Douglas and Amy Irving made the original one great! Oh, man, I can't wait to see who they cast for this one.

I was thinking the same thing. It's no doubt they'll wanna go young and sexy.
