Des anyone know if this is suppose to be an american remake of Ils(Them). Looks similar. That was one of my favorite films from last year and this looks great as well.

No, it is not a remake.

I'm fully aware of what the "Ils" is about, but are you going to make a blanket statement and call every home invasion film post-"Ils" a remake? That's mighty broad. There are adults in "The Strangers," and if you've seen "Ils" you know who the antagonists are. Furthermore, half of "Ils" is set in the woods where "Strangers" feels like a siege film revolving in and around the house. Again, this film wasn't set out to be a remake and it's not a remake.

In the trailer, when this part in the poster happens, she's smoking a cigarette so they changed it for the poster.

How can a poster be both scary and boring?
Posted by: Tripleg on April 21, 2008 at 19:09:56
well i screen tested this movie about a year ago and lets just say the cut they had rocked cant wait to see it in the theaters been a long time coming

Actually, its based on a true story about the couple in natchitoches, louisiana. It happened on February 11th 2005 i think. So, definitely not a remake of another movie.

They filmed this in my backyard (almost). Very much looking forward to seeing it!

this looks like one of the very few movies that could freak me out... i wanna see it

Kara, where did you get the info about the true story in Louisiana? Got any links to online info about it? Thanks

Oh by the way, I've read the script - the ending is brutal, and the last shot will leave audiences screaming.

I like how this picture avoids cheap scare tactics. Like not showing a monsterous ghoul that will jump out from the shadows and make every little teenager scream like a baby.
While I like the poster, I'll hold judgement. I really dug the poster for The Messangers...and we all know how that went.

*yawn* Looks crappy but every American hollywood horror movie is terrible and boring as hell.
Posted by: Kaare on April 22, 2008 at 16:52:19
I love the homage to John Carpenter's original "Halloween" with the white mask being almost all you see in the shadow. Very cool!

I have to agree that alot of horror movies now-a-days are more reliant on the "suprise" scare, and twisted gore, which...don't get me wrong...kind of works, but there aren't too many movies that get to your head enough to where you don't want to get off the bed because someone (or something) will grab your leg. Hopefully this one will be different. As I never judge a book by it's cover, so shall I not judge this movie by it's poster.

this film has been on hold for a while due to distributing arguments and finally will get its mainstream debut. the movie is amazing and definitely brings something to the home invasion terror genre. having seen Funny Games, "The Strangers" is definitely a contender.

wow the trailer is so scary! this movie looks sweet and the R rating is even sweeter!
Posted by: LCpl Miller on May 17, 2008 at 04:24:44
yeah i agree that this movie looks really good and also think the white mask is "scarier" than something popping out of the dark...off topic a little...WTF was with halloween 3???? pfffft

i really want to know the real story..................................
Posted by: L Fine on May 18, 2008 at 22:48:27
Slightly disappointed in its statement of true story.
There IS no REAL story. Per the director, he said that although he was inspired by a number of events, this story is not based on any particular real-life incident.
So all this Chinese whispering is just that and the fact they state it is based on a true story is more disturbing than the plot itself.
And no, its not a remake. This was written 2 years before "Ils".

Does her head look really small in the poster, or is it just me?
