Meg Rescued from Troubled Waters?

Source:L.A. Times
April 11, 2008

Meg, the proposed feature film based on Steve Alten's '97 novel, may be resurfacing. In a recent L.A. Times article (here), it appears some interested parties are getting involved in the property...

Apelles Publishing Inc. of Abington, Va., has optioned the rights from Alten with veteran Hollywood producers Lawrence Gordon ("Die Hard") and Lloyd Levin ("Boogie Nights"), along with Virginia-based film financing consultant Belle Avery, set to produce. Gordon and Levin have a track record of taking projects put in turnaround at one studio and successfully setting them up at another, the latest examples being "Watchmen" at Warner Bros. and "Hellboy II: The Golden Army" at Universal.

The Times piece does a fantastic job of tracking Meg's history, so give it a read!

The book was fantastic....i've always thought it was only a matter of time before it was turned into a film.
Going to make Jaws look like a tadpole....i just hope they keep the opening with a t-rex - the two ultimate predators!

I've read a lot of books I thought would make great movies. Steve Alten's MEG is one of them. After seeing the, Deep Blue Sea and the FX of the sharks in that movie, you add a liitle suspense like in Jaws and you could have a great movie. I hope they work the bugs out of this deal and get it on the drawing board again.

About time saw the promise that this book has. It can, with the right production team behind it, be bigger then Jaws, moneywise as well as shark size. lol Shark Attack 3: Megalodon? OMG!!! I make it a habit now to not rent shark movies with unknown Russian actors in them.
