EXCL: Night of the Demons Remake Update

Source:Ryan Rotten
February 27, 2008

In 1988, director Kevin Tenney whipped up a delicious, trashy brew of teen misbehavior, demonic possession, and lest we forget a shot of actress Linnea Quigley's ass that can never be topped, in Night of the Demons. (Lipstick in the nipple. That's all I'm sayin'.) "Demons" was Tenney's sophomore effort following Witchboard in '86; the film propelled actress Amelia Kinkade - as the snaggletoothed hell-bitch "Angela" - into two sequels.

In the past, Tenney has been vocal about revitalizing the series with a flat-out Night of the Demons remake. Today, we've received word that forward momentum is being been made.

Writers Adam Gierasch and Jace Anderson have been tapped to pen an update for Prodigy Entertainment. Tenney and Greg McKay (Braindead) are on board to produce. The film is also serving as a directing vehicle for Gierasch who is currently wrapping work on Autopsy.

"['Demons'] is a modern take but Angela is still in it. It's got blood, guts, Halloween, breasts, kids, demons and everything else that makes life worth living," Gierasch beams. Production is tentatively scheduled to begin in late spring.

Gierasch and Anderson's writing credits include Dario Argento's upcoming Mother of Tears.

With Jace and Adam behind it, as well as original director Tenney on board, I have faith in this. Besides, NIGHT OF THE DEMONS could use a remake and be made as a better film now! It's when perfect horror films like NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, HALLOWEEN, CHAINSAW and HELLRAISER get remade that people should be rebelling against.

Are there really die-hand DEMONS fans angry about this after 3 movies almost 20 years ago? Hell, we will always have NIGHT OF THE DEMONS 2. Love that movie.

the original night of the demons was great. when i was really young my friend and i used to watch it over and over when his parents went to bed. i hope they don't butcher it in the remake. with todays special effects, imagine the things that could be jammed into nipples!

Demons was an 80's horror classic...an update might not hurt, but it's safe to say that some films are best left alone and the remake trend is beyond ridiculous.

The original Night of The Demons was an awsome movie, I'm not sure a remake would be any good. With remakes it tough to compete with the original. But I'll just have to wait and see.

Yawn, another remake. Can Hollywood make anything new anymore? Are they just leaving all the new stories to come from Asia, so they can then be remade here?

When the original is good, leave it alone. How many remakes in the past have been that good? Besides "The Thing" of course

I love this franchise.
Night of the Demons 1 and 2 remind me of when horror movies were fun to me. Now I find myself trying to recapture the magic but unfortunately fail to do so the majority of the time. I eagerly anticipate this movie.
All hail Angela!!!!!!!!
