We just got off the horn with Steve Niles who confirmed for us that what you see below is indeed our first look at the teaser poster for David Slade's 30 Days of Night adaptation. Cool, eh?

It's nice to see Sony has embraced the "comic book" nature of this, and I'm beginning to suspect studios are re-thinking their approach to the comic book properties they hold and how they market them thanks to 300.

Based on Niles' graphic novel of the same name, the film finds Josh Hartnett (Sin City) and Melissa George (Turistas) fending off vampires in their small Alaskan town which is experiencing a month of total night. Expect plenty of hype for the film, produced under Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures, at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. 30 Days of Night opens in theaters everywhere on October 19th.
