Update: Goldsman in Lead to Direct Paranormal Activity 2?

An update from Deadline: Goldsman is on board as the film's executive producer. He's also helping to "flesh out" the story. Paramount is looking to start shooting in May.Paramount Pictures is close to announcing a director for Paranormal Activity 2, slated to open on October 22. And sources tell Shock Till You Drop that Akiva Goldsman is the one closest to sitting in the director's chair.
Last month, the L.A. Times reported a number of directors were circling around the sequel to last year's horror hit. Greg McLean (Rogue), Brad Anderson, Goldsman and Brian De Palma were all names thrown in the pot. But Goldsman, we're told, is the frontrunner right now.
Goldsman has worn many hats. His writing career began with the John Grisham adaptation The Client; this was followed by A Time to Kill, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, Lost in Space and, later, I Am Legend, The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. As a director, he's been at the helm of two Fringe episodes and an episode of Kings.
Paranormal Activity 2 would be his feature debut if he is in fact attached.

I completely lost interest when I read this part: Batman & Robin.

Yes, by all means give this franchise to the writer of both BATMAN & ROBIN and LOST IN SPACE, two of the very worst big-budget genre pictures of the last few decades.

So while every one else is fighting over Batman & Robin am I going to be the only one to point out that only maybe 3 of the movies listed are watchable and those were just WRITING CREDITS.. OR that Kings was a terrible show on a terrible network?

The Client was good, Batman Forever is still one of the Top 5 Superhero films IMO, though I think the parts of the SCRIPT that were cut out should have been left in and it'd have been a better film. I Am Legend and Da Vinci Code were both good, but DVC was too long. I wouldn't mind seeing him pen this sequel, but Idk about the Directing gig...
but wtf is Brian De Palma doing being mentioned to Direct THIS film? Not that I'm complaining...just a strange name to throw around...like casting Tobey McGuire as Spiderman...oh....wait...huh. Either way liked the 1st, I'll check this one out.

I lost interest after I wasted an hour and a half of my life watching the first movie. Garbage.

He is an AWFUL writer and an AWFUL director. In fact Akiva is just HORRIBLE in all aspects of the industry. Way to kill of a movie that had only a sliver of hope ! Idiots.
