Norrington Gives Update on The Crow Reboot

It's been a few months since we've heard any updates on the proposed reboot for The Crow, which Blade director Stephen Norrington was attached to helm. While producer Ryan Kavanaugh gave a quick update about the project back in November, last month Norrington was announced as the director on The Lost Patrol, a World War II supernatural action thriller for Legendary Pictures.

According to a brief chat with Mania, Norrington is still on board. "The producer and visual effects people are crunching numbers. We've opened discussions with major cast but nothing is final yet," says Norrington.

Considering The Crow script is already completed and it is a hot property, he tells the web publication that it'll probably shoot before The Lost Patrol, possibly by this summer. "Cast and budget and schedules will no doubt continue to adjust all equations."

Based on James O'Barr's original self-produced '80s comic book, The Crow was the basis of the 1994 Alex Proyas movie starring Brandon Lee and went on to spawn three sequels.

i've read different variations of the books and i mean the first movie was amazing the 2 sequels wont super bad but the 4th just killed the series but personally they should just leave well enough alone all the movie will attract is old fans and emo freakin kids who think there punks god damn i miss the 90's where being all should i say crowish was cool with killing bands,so ya its just my opioion and thats what these pages are for plus no remake also for the good memory i have of brandon lee the best crow ever and a super nice guy we all still miss him :(

I know there's going to be a lot of b_tching and moaning about this. But personally I hope it's an actual remake of the first film, so long as it's stays truer to the first series by O'Barr than the first movie did. The first movie was great but did stray pretty far from the original material. I wouldn't mind seeing that story finally be properly adapted.

The last thing we need is just another crappy sequel featuring another character.

I was surprised to find out just how different the original film was from the comic. They can do an adaptation of it and it won't exactly look like the same movie.

I just have one minor issue that I don't know if anyone will agree with. I think for the new version, they should change the character's name. The Eric Draven name is associated with the Brandon Lee version, so I think changing it would sorta indicate that they're doing their own thing and not just rehashing the success of the first one.

SKULL COWBOY baby. he's got to be in this movie. And I think Eric draven should be the guy. Stay true to the story and you cant go wrong. Thats the problem now adays!

Man - I didn't even know that morons even knew how to type. How the hell are you supposed to communicate if nobody knows what the hell you are saying?

I'm all for a reboot... I mean remake of the first one. As long as they don't do it exactly the same and end up killing the lead actor with a prop malfunction...

Reboots and remakes should only be done if the original movie was either horrible, or because it didnt reach its full potential because of a low budget. The Crow fits neither of these examples, and its ridiculous to remake a perfect movie. As great as the original Hellraiser was, i can almost understand remaking it, because the original was made with a 900 thousand dollar budget. Hellraiser has to be the best movie ever made for under 1 million dollars. But can you imagine if Clive Barker had made Hellraiser with a 40 million dollar budget?! But even in the Hellraiser case you have to wonder about remaking it. Because even though it can maybe be improved with a bigger budget, it could also maybe end up in the wrong hands, as it has. Too bad the Weinsteins retarded jewish a$$e$ are gonna ruing the Hellraiser remake by making it 3D. Too bad whoever spawned these idiots, werent killed in the holocaust. lol.

This got intense real fast. Anyway, I always thought The Crow was a super weird film. I'm all for a remake.

Posted by: Nico on February 20, 2010 at 20:07:11

damn it,the original crow was awesome!this reboot or remake,or do-over,or whatever the hell you wanna call it will not do it justice.I think I'll just stick to the original, because I don't want to taint my vision of it with a reboot. Not saying it won't be good, but that the original will always be better(I know, stating the obvious)

wow they are reebooting the crow..iv got all the editions of that film and still watch them to this day with much excitment as i had when i first watched it...

and truly think it still remains one of the best dark action films to this day ..well ahead of its time...GOD BLESS YOU BRANDON!!..

but im not sure if it needs a reeboot as the first film was flawless...

the sequels were crud though so maybes a proper part 2 or something but not a reeboot..

although with the tech and sfx of today theyv got no excuse to mess it up have they...

Posted by: GammaBob on February 21, 2010 at 18:38:23

@ txhsfball

Wow...so not only do you not know what the hell you're talking about...but you're an anti-semite to boot? Yeah, racial slurs are really going to go a long way toward people taking your opinions seriously. Where's the mod on this board? Get on this asap and block this skinhead already.

Posted by: metatron on February 22, 2010 at 14:29:05

i think its getting a bit heated its only a movie...

well a brilliant superb, super cool movie !!..but i think we should all chill a bit..

has anyone got anything on any spawn gossip ..

i heard they was doing a new movie i cant remember if it was a sequel or reeboot..

but i think that film was so cool and couldn t get enough of it but it just died a death..

and the cartoons and comics were so successfull too..

they could really go to town on a reeboot or sequel..

with the right director and budget of course

Boy, do we have have some real "winners" in this group. More than half of you are screaming at each other like a collective of whiny, snot-nosed kids.
Give it a rest children, if you wanna talk about movies then talk about movies, if you are gonna fight amongst yourselves then go to another site, where they welcome this kind of adolescent and
childish behavior. No wonder the world's so fouled
up, great job. Great contributions to the race you are.
