Toy Fair '10: Nightmare on Elm Street Figure Gallery

Source: Shock Till You Drop
February 15, 2010

Shock's New York correspondent Ed Douglas hit the Toy Fair 2010 show floor today and hit us with some awesome images of the year's upcoming new horror collectibles. First up, we have NECA and Mezco's take on the new Freddy Krueger from the upcoming A Nightmare on Elm Street.

NECA is prepping action figures for Krueger (pre- and post-burn) as well as a collectible glove (the first three images). Mezco is releasing Living Dead Doll and Mezitz figures.

Now, earlier reports that came out of the show this morning touted rumors of some sort of new "unseen!" Krueger glove that pre-burn Freddy wields. But that doesn't seem to be the case and there is some massive confusion. As you can see below, Krueger is merely holding a hand rake. What he does with it in the film is anyone's guess...

I don't understand how people can be excited for "Michael Bay's Nightmare On Elm Street"

If the first figure is an accurate representation of how he looks in the movie then I'm not so worried about this remake. Bring it on I say.

Wrong sweater.

Posted by: Wilbon on February 15, 2010 at 20:17:25

Why does everyone keep saying wrong sweater? It may not look exaxtly like the original but it's close enough. Why isn't everyone saying wrong glove?

Posted by: thisguy81 on February 15, 2010 at 21:15:31

He was talking to his mom. She put out the wrong Garanimal's sweater for him to wear to school tomorrow.

why do not Michael Bay direct a horror film?

Posted by: ShapeShifter on February 15, 2010 at 21:26:54

Good pics. HorrorBid.com actually did an article on that last night about the whole garden tool thing. I think what the deal is it's what Freddy used in the real world and it's amplified into the glove we know in the dream world. But that's just speculation.

Why do people complain so much? The golve, the sweater, etc. Must be Superman fans because they complain about everything. I'm ready for new Freddy. It's great to have him back in action and I WILL bein the theatres when it arrives.

I think what was meant about the sweater was in the OG version, he had no stripes on his sleeves.

Correct?

People complain because they are sick of seeing lazy remakes that just regurgitate films that we have already seen, usually without bringing anything new or fresh to the table while doing so. And this looks to be more of that same brand of pointless and lazy remake, where all they have bothered to change are the actors, while tweaking the look of the main monster. And just so they can call it their own work, when in reality it is just the old movie repackaged, but as we not only already have the old movie, but we know it inside and out, there is absolutely no point for this to exist. Not in this form, not like this.

Now if they had actually taken the concept and done something different, something original, and gone in their own direction with just taking the core idea(s) and re-interpreting them as something new, or even just telling their own unique story while using the same established core concept, then that might have proven to be worthwhile. But this, it's nothing but a lazy cash grab trading on the name and reputation established by the original film and those responsible for it's success for no other reason than to drain money from an established fanbase.

Not all remakes suck, but the remakes that are worthwhile are always those, such as John Carpenter's The Thing, David Cronenberg's The Fly, or Philip Kaufman's Invasion of the Body Snatchers, that took the idea from the original and then did their own thing and told their own unique story with it. This new Nightmare remake isn't trying to do that, all it is trying to do is give us all that we have already seen, in slightly different clothing. And if remakes like Psycho should have taught us anything by now, its that this brand of lazy film recycling simply doesn't work, especially when dealing with iconic characters.

Fact is, we have all seen this film already, and even if, best case scenario, they do a good job of copying the original, its still never going to be anything other than a copy of a film that was fine to begin with.

People are complaining all over the world, not just you Americans ´bout this recent **** from Hollywood with their remakes from their 80´s gems.
As if we 30+ people never existed and never went to the cinemas back then to´ve seen it at 1st place.
Nowadays the leading characters dont smoke, drink or swear anymore damn Hippocrates.
**** man that really pisses me off, just 4 the sake of PG-13.

The doll looks queer, the "new" Freddy looks queer, this movie is looking queer and anyone who pays money to see this **** is queer.

Posted by: John on February 16, 2010 at 09:18:58

Even the new glove looks queer.

The only queer thing on here is you "John" anyone here who is already hating the new nightmare is not a true horror fanactic and thats just fact

Posted by: Jay on February 16, 2010 at 15:08:10

what new glove? that just looks like him holding some gardening tool.

Posted by: .44 Winchester on February 16, 2010 at 22:58:36

You're right, I'm not a "horror fanactic", and niether is anyone else who can spell and string two mildly intelligent words together. Jigsaw Killer just goes to prove the point that its only the braindead A.D.D. generation who thinks pointless remakes like this, that bring absolutely nothing new to the table, and only serve to trade on the names and reputations of prior films, are actually 'kewl'. F@ck off & die, twitter-bait.

Posted by: thisguy81 on February 16, 2010 at 23:50:23

If someone's braindead, they probably don't have ADD anymore. Idiot.

"The only queer thing on here is you "John" anyone here who is already hating the new nightmare is not a true horror fanactic and thats just fact"

I was watching the original before you were a fetus, idiot. Shut up.

Posted by: Joe on February 26, 2010 at 16:21:37

Are you people insane? This movie does have some similarities to the original, but the new trailer shows a lot of things that were NEVER in the first movie. I am a huge horror movie fan and have seen all the remakes. This one might beat them all, actually. The only scene I saw that was actually the same was Tina...who is not Tina but is the same character...on the ceiling.

Plus...from the first preview it looks like Freddy might actually have a reason to want revenge since he may not even be guilty this time around.

I think what they are doing is great. My biggest concern was how Jackie would portray Freddy but, if you watched this trailer, that doesn't seem to be an issue.

And why are you even on here looking at the new movie if you are SO against this movie? Just saying.

i bought the first 2 today and they are great...
