EXCL: The Season of the Witch Poster!
Source: Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor
December 11, 2009
Next year promises a varied crop of original horror films. Among them? Season of the Witch starring Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman (look for an appearance by Christopher Lee, too!). Bragi Schut's screenplay was widely sought after many years back, now it's finally reaching the big screen on March 19 from Lionsgate and under the direction of Dominic Sena.
You may have seen the teaser trailer and trailer which premiered within the last two months. Shock Till You Drop is now happy to give you an exclusive first look at the one-sheet.
Here's the full synopsis: Cage stars as the medieval knight Behmen who undertakes a mission pitting him against an devious witch and making him the last hope for the world against an ancient and dark force.
His faith broken by years of battle as a crusader, Behmen returns to central Europe to find his homeland decimated by the Black Plague. While searching for food and supplies at the Palace at Marburg, Behmen and his trusted companion, Felson (Perlman) are apprehended and ordered by the dying Cardinal to deliver a young peasant girl believed to be the witch responsible for the Plague to a remote abbey where her powers can be destroyed.
Behmen agrees to the assignment but only if the peasant girl is granted a fair trial. As he and five others set off on this dangerous journey, they realize with mounting dread that the cunning girl is no ordinary human, and that their mission will pit them against an evil that even in these dark times they never could have imagined.

Holy crap, Nic Cage is in every movie coming out. I thought he was broke!
Posted by: dj on December 11, 2009 at 13:40:13
Why are people still giving Nic Cage roles?
Does any cinema goer think "hey, Nic Cage is in this film, I'm going to see it".
If I wanted to watch Nic Cage, I would watch one of his previous atrocities in which, like every film, Nic Cage plays Nic Cage.
Brilliant.

dj, just wipe out the **** from your eyes, and you'll realise Nic Cage is great actor. As a mindless ****tard you just follow the trend, which has been to bash him as of late. And then when he'll get another oscar (granted, that won't be for season of the witch) you'll be there with everyone else praising him.

Irons right you are cage can be great and will be great in many other roles I'm sure . Highly recommend Bad lieutenant

@Irons HAHAHA
Open your eyes are realise he cant act. You're a seasoned Cage fan then? If you've seen ANY of his films then you'd understand my point, and wouldnt have to use your big bad words like "****tard". And as you even admit, Season of the Witch?! Pull the other one mate. The man is "broke" and doing every film he can claw his grubby "poor" hands on.
Can you believe he's having to sell a castle in England. Oh the horror, please let it stop, I cant stand the arrogance!

To me the poster looks somewhat direct to DVD.

Aren't they concerned that a majority of the public will confuse this with Sorcerer's Apprentice, and simply assume that they've already seen it when they haven't ?

I just saw the preview, does not look good to me.

Ah Nic Cage, haven't being a massive fan of his as of late, The Wicker Man being the possible reason for that, but I did happen to watch Bad Lieutenant and that has convinced me that he is still a 'good' actor, he just happens to have being in the wrong films these past few years. The poster looks interesting and at least he has a better hairstyle then is previous films.

Pls stop sayin nic is broke. He aint. Yes, he owes the ira a lot of money, but at the same time, this guy has so much stuff its crazy. from cars to mansions and castles and multiple rollsroyce phantoms to wild animals and a hell lot more crazy stuff. If he was that desperate, he can sell some of that crap and easily pay it off. But i think he just chooses to not sell anything and pay for it with future earnings, which might suggest, as most people say why he does so many films, mostly crap. But thats not to say he's crap or desperate. Peace

Leo - I think Mr. Cage is in debt to the IRS. I have not seen any mention of him owing the Irish mafia anything...but if he did I'm sure he'd be even more motivated to do any movie he could.
I do agree that Nic can't act his way out of a paper bag. He plays the same character in almost every movie. Sure he pulled it off in a few, and "Leaving Las Vegas" was a stand out. I too don't understand how he keeps getting cast, I surely do not see him as the hero type anymore, let alone a medieval knight. There are so many better choices out there now, Gerard Butler comes to mind.
This film seems like it had promise, but Cage will be its down fall. Sadly, I will have to see it b/c Perlman is in it....long live SAMCRO.

I saw this movie at a special screening a few months ago. Aside from the zany zombie monk fight, this movie blew chunks all over the walls.

How does Cage play the same character in every movie? Have you seen his films?
From his earlier hits such as "The Rock" (nerdy lab rat) to "Con Air" (southern wise ass convict) to convincing roles in "Matchstick Men" "Adaptation" to the heart felt performances in "The Family Man" and his Oscar winning performance in "Leaving Las Vegas" Hell, go a head and through his newest film "The Bad Lieutenant" in there too. Above all, he consistently plays different character types with similar qualities. But regardless, you aren't a HACK when you've won one Academy Award and been nominated for one other.
Though I will grant it, this poster looks bad, topped with an extra helping of poo. I think everyone agrees with that.

Should have just gone straight to DVD as nobody's going to go see this Cage turd in theaters.

HI!
WOW! Looks like a good movie. I like things spooky!! However, I'm NOT watching it because of Cage, but because of Ron Perlman!! HE ROCKS! And Christopher Lee is a very good actor, too. Ron and Lee were in "Police Academy: Mission to Moscow" back then! I've read a post here about the Wicker Man. I have seen dvd covers showing Cage in that movie. But I once bought the version with Lee in it. I only watched it once. All of that singing...!
Anyway; I'm looking forward to this movie because of Ron and Lee...and hopefully a lot of spooky stuff! >:-}

Guys we really don't know s*** about the inside part of Hollywood & how ppl are cast. So it's pretty obvious if everyone else was like the comments are on here & hated Nic guess what (THEY WOULDN'T F****** CAST HIM) & since he continually does get cast I think it's safe to say ppl like him & have faith in him still! And we're all gonna say "Yeah I like him alot" when he wins another Oscar. And as for the whole God D*** IRS thing if he was in debt the media would be all over it I heard maybe one or two beeps about it when it was first made public but that was months ago so obviously it's been taken care of. I swear to God ppl don't think before they talk anymore, Jesus H Christ!! And what's with "he's the same character in every movie s***) again obviously not or his character name wouldn't ever f****** change!! F***, the world has been filled with idiots..... breaks my heart!

CageEverywhere, just because he's broke doesn't mean he can't still get work. His movies make money and everyone on earth knows who he is. About the only thing that would keep him from working would be jail time so if he really wants to be out of work, he needs to rob a bank or be found with underage prostitutes or something. Then people might not employ him anymore.
But then again, people still employ Victor Slava and Roman Polanski even with their proclivities for disgusting things. So, who knows?
