What a horrible and stupid idea. Norrington should be ashamed. why not reboot The LXG instead next you dumb ****. Remake that but 100x better. God I hate this idea, I love The Crow and Brandon Lee's performance was amazing now the younger generation is going to think this new piece of crap is going to be something new and better. suck a big one Stephen Norrington.

When will Hollywood learn to leave well enough alone?

Idk about this. The original is just a phenomenal piece of art that would be hard to compete with. Maybe with the right cast, the right director and visual effects artist, this movie may have potential.

There's really no need for this. The original film was great and updating it for todays youth 15 years later is just appalling! Why change the story and the makeup? It makes no sense to me, but I'm not thinking in dollars like these studios and producers are.

Stick this remake up your ass hollywood we don't need another pointless remake. The first was a classic end of story. Brandon Lee is the one and only crow. I love this one"someone more relatable to everybody." Brandon lee did reach out to people with his amazing performance he gave. In my opinion he was very sensational. There is no crow movie without Lee,Wincott,Hudson. So pleaseeeeeeee throw this classic back in the hollywood vault and think of something else to tackle.

The Crow rocked my world when it came out. City of Angels was disapointing, Salvation was terrible, nobody ever saw Wicked Prayers and Stairway to Heaven was ok at best for cheap tv. Rebooting it with a character we can "relate to"??? I've never come backfrom the dead. Have you? The original had a tone, a feel to it that no pure action movies can have. Of course I'll see it if it gets done but I don't expect it to be great. Maybe just a good action ride without the un je ne sais quoi.

I was a HUGE fan of the orginal Crow. Until I realized that the graphic novel from which it was 'based' is a THOUSAND times the story and peice of art that the movie was. There is no Sarah in the book, only a cameo for Officer Albrect, no exploding cars, no cheesy playing guitar on the roof scenes. Anyone complaining about 'changing the story' and 'messing up a classic' should shut the hell up and read the book... Maybe this reboot will actually do it justice.
All of that said, I still love the movie, and Brandon Lee was amazing. It just could have been so much better.

Lets play a game. How Many Crapjob Remakes Can We Spit Out In 2010? Any takers?? There's no originality anymore...
Posted by: Ajay on November 23, 2009 at 21:09:17
The ONLY way I'd be into this is if they make the lead a female who comes back to avenge her death. The original was an awesome movie, and one that has such a cult following. That's almost like saying, "We're going to redo Rocky Horror for a new generation." I know the film fell short of the source material, but as a stand-alone film adaptation, it's a great film! Leave it alone Hollywood, come up with some NEW ideas, give upcoming screenwriters a chance to get something unique out there!

Ajay, they are redoing Rocky Horror, MTV is doing it, that's news from months ago my friend. As for this, who knows. I suppose it could be good, but I'm appalled by David Boreanez's appearance in the 4th Crow movie. I expect better from him. That said, if it's Crow, I'll watch it. And hopefully I can get this Crow book optioned and in the next couple years turn out a fantastic Crow movie out of nowhere that these big studios wont have any say over. Mark my words, my breakout movie WILL be a GREAT Crow film. None of this remake nonsense. Though, as I said, I can't bash it, as I'll be there opening night to see the movie.

heres an idea for ya. let james o' barr the creator of the crow write and co-direct the damn thing. Worked for miller and Rodriguez and sin city was amazing. Anything else will just come off as another un-original and cheese sequel that wont have the feel of the original comic series or the original movie with brandon lee.
Posted by: GammaBob on November 23, 2009 at 23:09:37
I know I'm gonna get flack for this, but I couldn't honestly care less...I'm actually disappointed that this is NOT a remake of the Brandon Lee film. While that film was great in it's own right, it was not a very faithful adaptation of the original story. I for one wouldn't mind seeing someone come along and finally do that story justice.
Posted by: Joe on November 23, 2009 at 23:36:18
It might not be a totally bad idea. Maybe this will be The great crow film I and many others have been waiting for since the first one. And if what they say is true, it not being a direct reboot but a jump starting of the franchise, I think I can be on board with it. Besides it's not like Stephen Norrington is a completly cruddy director. Sure LXG was really lousy but he also directed a well regarded and very cult followed and loved film which spawned two sequels, plus was more or less responsible for all the other comic book films to finally be green lit because of it's success. Blade.
So while part of me is nervous and leery of it, another part of me is interested. So I'm not gonna bash it just yet, I'm just gonna hang out in the wait and see section.

I am a HUGE fan of the orginal Crow movie and comic I'm an even bigger fan of brandon. But I do have to say that the comic was better.
Now onto the topic of a remake or whatever they are calling it.
1. someone more relatable to everybody. I hope that they stick to the comic, cause eric was a construction worker that was murdered with his soon-to-be wife when their car broke down.
2. Sarah is in the comic but just under another name--sherri. ps read it again
3.different makeup, all I can say to that is wtf are you thinking. that is if it is a reboot
4.ok now. if they go ahead with this film and I see that they are I think Hollywood might release the cut scenes of the brandon lee film that they have been holding on to and will make more crow films aka like batman begins remake type with new characters.
5. I don't think brandon lee would have wanted us to stop making crow films just cause he died make one I think he would want us to make more and to explore this world of the crow myth.
brandon lee may you rest in peace
ps I named my son brandon.

F***. THIS. NOISE.
You can't reboot it. They tried to reboot the comics, with Todd McFarlane as the main guy behind the design... what did it do?? FAIL.
Now.. if you -have- to make this.. stay 100% true to the original graphic novel. Verbatum. Let the younger generation know what the f*** they missed.
You don't need a character we can "relate to" today. We can all relate to Branon Lee's 'Eric Draven'.
Make it graphic. Violent. Frightening. Just like the original graphic novel.
And just remember:
It can't rain all the time.
Posted by: Jakarah on November 24, 2009 at 08:23:53
How will this even hold a candle to the original? An actor that we "relate to" is a bull**** excuse. Probably some douche like Tom Cruise. AND THEY ARE CHANGING THE MAKEUP TOO!!!!! OMG, how can the crow be anything but the B&W getup that was in the original. Unless they do something original like the Halloween remake from Rob Zombie, I just don't see how this can be done and not BOMB at the box office.
Thanks for ruining my movies from the 80's and 90's hollywood.
What's next? North by Northwest? The Maltese Falcon? or how about Dirty Harry? Why not ruin those? or is that to "sacred" for ya?
Posted by: The Burn on November 24, 2009 at 10:44:06
I remember now that Rob Zombie wrote a Crow script a while back. It was about a family getting killed and the son came back to life a yeay later to live his life not knowing what he had become. Only ten years later, on Halloween night, he would learn about the whole Crow thing and all the story behind his and his parents death. He would then become The Crow and get his revenge. It was called The Crow: 2010 or something like that.
There was also a script with a rapper becoming the Crow and DMX was rumored to star in it.
The Rob Zombie thing, I would watch.
The gangsta rap version, not so sure!

Brandon Lee Fan:
" Sarah is in the comic but just under another name--sherri. ps read it again"
Ohhh.. so wait, sarah was in the comic, but she wasn't sarah?? nice one dumb@$$...

If you use the same character and the same storyline then buddy you are doing a re-make. A re-vamp is where you completely use the same character in name but change virtually everything about the original storyline, including character traits. The Eric Draven character was created for the original film script, and was different from the comic.
They could of given fans what they had asked for a long time that mean a more direct translated film from the comic. If Eric is a guitarist again, its a re-make, if those themes and sayings from the film make it to the next one, then it is a re-make. Brandon came up with a lot of a great ideas himself and stealing from the original is just wrong.
Sign the petition against the film and let them know how much they suck.

@ Pandora,
not sure what article you read, but I think you're getting your panties in a bunch for nothing. Nothing I've heard about this movie has indicated that it's a remake. Doesn't feature the same character, isn't based off James O'Barr's story...sounds like just another crappy sequel to me, so take your little petition elsewhere and just relax. Too bad though, when I first heard about this I was actually HOPING it was a remake, considering the original one was NOTHING like the graphic novel. Still a great movie, but I wouldn't exactly call it an adaptation of O'Barr's story, if anything it was inspired by it, but I wouldn't call it a proper adaptation.

As a fan of the original comic, I don't understand why Hollywood can't just come up with an actual loyal interpretation of the source material. The original film was more like a unique interpretation than an accurate portrayal of the comic.
Want a character people can associate with? Keep Eric's original role as a construction worker - portraying him as a guitarist made the antagonists feel more like "devious villains" rather than the soulless meat puppets from the source material.
Considering Norrington doesn't want to apparently preserve anything that even associates it with either the comic or Lee's movie, he will hopefully hammer the last nail into the "retarded Crow remake" coffin.
AND FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST PLEASE DON'T CHANGE THE ****ING MAKEUP. MY GOD NO.

"a much more present day character, someone more relatable to everybody"
So Eric Draven will be texting the Crow his thoughts, and flashing 'gansta' signs and listening to hip hop, and he was a former game player of Rock Band..
