More Hints at Valentine in Resident Evil: Afterlife

Source:Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor
November 20, 2009

This week, Shock Till You Drop spoke with producer Don Carmody about a number of projects he has in the pipeline including Resident Evil: Afterlife, the fourth film in Screen Gems' franchise.

Carmody co-produced the first entry, as well as Apocalypse. He had to bow out of Extinction for another obligation, but he's hopeful Afterlife will pave the way for a bright future with more Evil films.

"Part two made more than one, three made more than two and we're hoping four will make more than three," he said. "It keeps the franchise strong. What we want to avoid is what's happening with the Saw franchise which is going the other way. We're hoping Paul being back in the driver's seat with 3-D and these big action set pieces will keep it going."

And since I've been pressing to find out more about this talk of the return of Jill Valentine (which Milla Jovovich spilled the beans about here), I asked Carmody if he could comment. "No," he chuckled, "it's going to be surprising and it's going to make people think what's going to happen next."

Sorry, Evil fiends. Looks like you'll have to wait until next August to find out.

YESSSSSSSSSSSS! This just made my day, I bet Sienna won't be in the film but maybe refence her as BirdLady or something. Like her Speaking on the phone with Wesker or something at the end!

Just reboot this franchise for god's sake and stay true to the video-game spirit!!! No more Paul Anderson version! He destroyed the Resident Evil franchise on big-screen like Uwe Boll did with Bloodrayne!

I agree, this franchise is dumb. For teenieboppers or something. Give the rights to another studio, Sony cant do anything right. Had they been faithfully adapted they would've been the Night of the Living Dead, Dawn, and Day or this generation. But of coarse they had to become action flicks with kung fu and clones and kung fu versus a fcking nemesis creature. I mean dear god I could not think of a dumber image then someone holding their dead naked self, but thats what we get. There is no debating it, if you like these films you are under the age of 15 and have terrible taste.

Why cant horror films take themselves serious anymore? Well Resident Evil is an action series now but dear god its stupid. Slap a laugh track on it.

"He destroyed the Resident Evil franchise on big-screen like Uwe Boll did with Bloodrayne!"

Bloodrayne was a piece of crap video game series. You really think that when you start with crap, you're not going to end with crap?

I'm just glad to hear her name get mentioned. It's like she didn't exist in the 3rd. It's sad really, 'cause she was one of very few characters from the actual Video Game franchise.

please just remake this crap like the first video game even if it is a quasi reboot i want a tyrant that does not talk experiments like the hunters, plant 42,tranchulas,neptune,and a giant snake.

These are HORRIBLE films. Seriously, who is watching this $hit? Mila can't act and these films have nothing to do with the game anymore. All they are doing is using the name! LEAVE IT ALONE ALREADY ANDERSON! Who cares if Jill is coming back! This crap is stupid and so are all the producers for dumping money into it! Go spend millions on a million lottery tickets or feed the homeless or something. JESUS!

Well i can't agree with the previous posts. I think these movies are fun to watch and entertaining. Up to Apocalypse the movies were also still very connected to the games, they were a different interpretation a new storyline thats not as crazily complicated as the original (and yes i know all about that one) making a "truthful" film of Resident Evil 1 would have been a disaster, that would have been uwe boll work. They even had to remake that game because the story was not that well thought out in the game. Anyways getting of track, what I will say is that Extinction strays very far from Resident Evil, thats not bad but its also kind of weird, the movie also strayed to far from Apocalypse with no explanation or continuation of the lifes of previous characters, i personally also find that too many characters that are essential to the Series are killed each game, its like Harry Potter killing all of Harry's friends, then giving him new ones, then killing them all. Resident Evil Extinction is acceptable as a sequel to the first two movies but already too far from the Game. Still you are watching the movie series which is gripping in a way and very fun to watch so when it comes to the next movie it should leave the games behind and go for the movie series. This is not something bad like all of you say, and i doubt they just used the name because well, Resident Evil may now be incredibly famous due to RE4 but before that, it was dying and the movies really helped the game. We have to accept at this point that the games especially the newer ones are something different from the movies, but trust me the movies aren't benefiting extremely on the Games.

i mean are killed each MOVIE

I must be the only horror fan that actually liked these movies, but then again i never played the video game so i'm not pissed about accuracy or having the story line followed to a tee.

I thought Resident Evil - Apocalypse kicked ass - anything with Mila sporting twin uzi's kicks ass.

Opening of RE1 (movie):
JASON ISSACS (V.0)
At the beggining of the 21st century,-
CUT. All games up till that point took place in the late 90's. One line in and the movies have waved goodbye to the franchise and never looked back.
The films are TERRIBLE representions of the games, completely missing the plots, themes, moods andd characters and replacing them with nonsensical, thoughtless rubbish of thier own.
They are also AWFUL films in their own right, with little or no co-herent plot or logic, paper thin characters (even characters from the games are dumbed down and simplified, and these are RE characters we're talking about!) and dumb low budget action scenes.
Frankly, the only thing that could be worse for this movie than being in 3D (because the series needs to be MORE sensationalist tripe) is having Paul Anderson "back in the driving seat". Every single one of these films has been a disaster and if we want the pain to stop we have to stop watching them. NOBODY SEE THIS FILM. It's the only way they'll learn.

Sienna Guillory stole the show in Apocalypse to the point that Apocalypse himself was a bit of a let down performance wise. Exctinction was empty without her and should have been a lot better. This RE storyline is breaking far away from the Video game but to compensate you "HAVE" to have the main characters from the games else its just not RE. Bring back SG or its a pointless sequel.

Captain_Arlong you are a piece of ****! Even if Bloodrayne is not the greatest video game ever made this series have an original and interesting plot with one of the most gorgeous game babe ever created. The story would have been easy to put on big screen even with a low budget.

But maybe is not your fault Arlong since your brain seem to not understand what make a good and decent low budget video game like BloodRayne! Maybe Luffy have punched you too hard on the face.

(@ Wesker_1984) I fail to see how you think you can carry weskers name as your username, then defend these piece of **** movies. Im a long time fan, been their since the beginning of the franchise when I was 8, thanks to my father, and I must say that these films are terrible (considering I have literally grown up on the games and own an extremely respectable amount of collectors stuff).
Anderson CAN NOT direct, nor can he write, nor can he produce (apart from Event horizon). If they had actually stuck with the games, these would be some seriously badass tension based horror movies with zombies added in. WHERE THE **** IS THERE ANY KUNG FU IN THE ****ING GAME??!! and Jill valentine is terrible on screen, I have never seen anybody miss the ball on a character's personality so much in my entire life. Its all aimed at teens and hormonal little boys who think they know what a good film is, when they really, really do not!

Another question: Why the HELL were there, like, 2 million S.T.A.R.S Members in the film?! There were only 10 in the original, consisting a split of Alpha and Bravo team, in which Bravo team all died before the events of RE3 anyway! He also completely ****ed up nikolai, why the hell was he a nice guy. Can they not keep characters to their sources?! is Paul Anderson THAT bad of a writer?!

(Oh and considering how TERRIBLE wesker_1984's writing, spelling and grammar is, I couldn't actually see him being born in 1984... Im 6 years younger and I can write better. Can anyone say raging troll?)
