yeah people stop downloading. It's gonna come to dvd in like 2 months or something. I really wanna see a Zombieland 2
Posted by: JWK on November 10, 2009 at 19:48:26
So no Z-land sequel because the writer is upset that it's being downloaded? Hello this is nothing new. People are going to download it no matter what. Doesn't mean you have to take the sequel away from the people who actually saw it in the theaters.
Posted by: Joe on November 10, 2009 at 19:51:49
Oh my God poor Zombieland creators!!! You will only make 100 million + dvd rentals and sales that will push it close to 150. You selfish people who will probably buy the dvd, blu ray or watch it on paid movie channels later should just be ashamed. Do you know that we won't see a sequel because of you? Do you know how many people will kill themselves without a Zombieland sequel? If I don't see another zombie comedy I myself will die!
Screw you Reese. This movie was barely above average. Trying to throw some guilt trip on people is a pretty low blow. You want to stop illegal downloading? Make them less expensive!!! Make the movies available online while they are in theaters for a reasonable price. You provide one of the least valuable things in society, f***ing entertainment! So roll around in your piles of cash while judging the morality of others. I'll continue to watch movies online so get used to it.

the funny thing is alot of the people downloading it could care less if a sequel is made they just download whatever movie is new. if anything statements like this will make people download it more out of some sense of spite.
Posted by: 135709 on November 10, 2009 at 20:11:08
As one of the few people who pay to see a movie and buy them on dvd, I don't think its a good idea to threaten the public to not do a sequel to a movie because of the illegal downloads it will just make more people not go to the movies. Just fill the dvds with as much extras as they can fit and try to release Zombieland somewhere in December to cash in on the holidays if possible.

Yeah I understand largely that it's a shame that the creators won't make a sequel because of piracy.
But on the other side, it doesn't matter what movie is on theaters...they're gonna be downloaded illegally! There is no stopping it frankly.
Napster was shut down when Metallica went ballistic on them and now look at piracy. It's now a hobby and a major statistic.
Although, it's bad that movies are pirated...I'm also a believer that if anything, as bad it sounds, piracy could boost the BO numbers of the sequel!
Posted by: TheFifthHorseman on November 10, 2009 at 20:43:12
What a load of BS. It's been out for 6 weeks. It's made what it was going to make. So because an R5 got released a few days ago you're going to whine and carry on about depriving the people who have paid for the movie their desire for a sequel. Such immature behavior from a filmmaker. You're a noob to the industry Ruben, you better get used to piracy online and quick. Because it's not going to slow down for you.

...I could never really figure out the appeal of this whole 'movie downloading' thing, anyways; the eventual home video release of the film, would have all of the Behind-the-scenes goodies, extras, bells and whistles, whereas a downloaded version wouldn't have all of that, and unlike the masses of antsy and impatient downloaders, this faithful and devoted genre movie fan HAS the patience to wait for DVD, containing all of that. The KEY word here, is patience, and let's face it: theft is theft is theft...even movie theft; let's expound the proper respect for the filmmaker, who has clearly given us a most outstanding film......

Posted by: Butch02 on November 10, 2009 at 22:57:30
cry me a ****ing river you overpaid whining hollywood pansies!
Posted by: txhsfball on November 10, 2009 at 22:59:43
lol at they wont make a remake that will make them another 100 million just cuz of downloading. If the hollywood idiots are not careful enough and so stupid as to keep leaking copies then fkcu them. there fault.
Posted by: txhsfball on November 10, 2009 at 23:05:29
Stop charging 25 bucks for a fckuing dvd and we'll stop downloading. When new VHS movies came out they came out for like 9 bucks. And its 100 times cheaper to manufacture dvds so why are they 25 dollars when VHS was 9 dollars for new movies. Go fcku yourselves hollywood.

Theft is theft. Doesn't matter if you're illegally downloading a movie or stealing from a department store. It's amazing how people try and justify illegal behavior because they feel movie tickets are too expensive or they are being charged too much for a DVD. Guess I'm entitled to steal a brand new BMW off the lot because I feel that they are overpriced.

I paid to see Zombieland opening weekendand thought it was just average.Sites this this one hyped it up and made it more than it was. Now that this ***** has said those comments.. if they ever release a sequel I'd never pay to see it.
Thanks for saving me 9 bucks Rhett.

We want Zombieland 2, just cuase some people are downloading it shouldn't stop the creators from making a sequel. Boo hoo, get over it, Wolverine was online before it was released. No matter how many times it gets downloaded it still don't beat the great quality of dvd and blu-ray, true fans of the film will prefer to buy it, for the better picture alone. Even those who downloaded it might wanna buy a better copy, if they enjoyed as much as us. The movie cost 24 million to make, has made 83 million worldwide and counting, it has alread become the highest grossing zombie flick ever, passing dawn of the dead remake at 59 million, and these hollywood cry baby's are threatening not to make a sequel. C'mon give me a break, give us a sequel, i was one of the first to go see it opening weekend and still paid to go see it again the next weekend with some others that hadn't seen it. Stop making silly threats.

I agree the complaint about piracy is complete horse****. IF ANYTHING, it should show how loved the movie is and show that a Sequel is definitely wanted and needed! Even Pirates pay to see the movie first. It's what decides if the movie is worth seeing over and over again. In today's economy and I knew a movie I made was being Pirated after the movie did good in the theaters I would be pleased that people love it so much that they want to share it now cause they can't wait for the DVD or BlueRay. Besides, with today's economy.. Cost of tickets and insane 20 bux for a 3 oz. bag of popcorn I have to say I understand why people Pirate movies sometimes. What.. It's like 80% of the country struggles just to make enough to support their family anymore, I see it as a way for the poor to be able to see something the world has gotten to enjoy and save them 7 - 15 bux for bills, groceries, or gas for work.

Zombieland is nowhere near the most pirated movie via torrent or anything else, but hey, got you some more free press though, didn't it? And let illegal downloaders know that it's out there to find if they want it to boot.
Call me cynical, but I find the timing of this very convenient when the film has past it's cinema run prime, and now, with this announcement, is just spreading the pirated availability news far beyond the usual pirate scene, maiing it even more downloaded as a result, likely in the hopes that downloaders will like it enough after downloading it to go and buy the dvd or bluray when it comes out...
Posted by: Evil L on November 11, 2009 at 03:29:57
To txhsfball what world do YOU live in? I NEVER paied 25 bucks for a DVD & BY GOD I never paied 9 bucks for a new VHS movie
when VHS was still in there prime the cheapest you could get a brand New VHS movie was 14.99 before it was in it's prime 90 freakin bucks for a NEW VHS movie.
back on topic I never download movies off the internet crapy shots, shaky hands & the F***ING ppl never stop talking or sit down long enough to hear a full scean.. this guy is just a panzy ass who is crying because it was number 1 for 3 weeks now its around # 20? & the DVD wont be out for another 2 maybe 3 more months it would be out before X-mas thats for damn sure
Posted by: jill on November 11, 2009 at 06:33:54
first of all
1.
If people didn't put the movie online to begin with we wouldn't be having this talk of we're not making a f-in sequel for Zombieland cause people are downloading it.
2.
$9.99 and $14.99 for a vhs, fck where do you people live cause where I come from they were like $29.95 brand new but now they are like $15 and dvds are like anywhere from $19 to $45 for Special editions and those are ****y as hell cause when I was young they never called it a Special edition unless it was a Special edition with things like a cliped scene of the movie or the Special edition art book and script of which I have of the first star wars film but now they call every f-in dvd a Special edition, so no wonder people don't buy their **** and those that do just don't care or don't know.
3.
Now the theaters are another story, $12 bucks to see a movie and if your with your family it could run up as high as $50 or more, sorry but that is bull**** when you could just download it and watch it on your big screen tv with your own popcorn and drinks and if you wanted you could order a pizza and be as comfortable as hell but as people say theft is theft, so my ? is when are they going to stop stealing from us. Cause when they do I can almost bet that downloading movies online will slow down, but they will not stop cause everybody wants somethings for free. ps I remember when I could go see a movie for $2.50
4.
To the creators of zombieland and hollyf-inwood, people who download your movies don't care, now I don't download but I do watch the ****y copys that you can find online but thats cause I will not buy a dvd if I can't see the movie first for free to see if I like it cause there are alot of bad movies out there lately and I'm not about to throw my money out the f-in window
5.
Is it stealing if you guys are puting it up on the net to begin with, how does a copy of the movie get up there to begin with besides the poeple that go in the theaters and film them. All I know is that if hollywood and anybody else that makes stuff like programs and **** keeps stealing from us this will be a war that they will lose cause they can't throw every one in jail because who will buy your **** then, you have to find a way that makes everyone happy or their will be no more you and just us. wolverine was leaked and it still made money even if it sucked **** right so don't be greedy be happy that your doin somethin that you love.
one more thing if you going to ***** about people downloading, buy saying that your not going to make a another one. don't bother it wasn't that good anyway.
c-ya
ps.sorry for the spelling
Posted by: Colonel Jololo on November 11, 2009 at 08:43:17
They're stealing from you?
Jill, you're an idiot.
Posted by: Klynsy on November 11, 2009 at 09:05:23
Nobody seems to have actually understood the article. They aren't being sucks about it, they aren't meeting the quota. And for those arrogant pricks who say "yay pirating" or "they don't deserve the money anyway", they actually do. It takes a lot of hard work to make movies, and a **** load of money. But I know there's no convincing you, so I'll just stop there and not waste my time with it.
Posted by: kurt russell on November 11, 2009 at 10:09:39
it's too bad about the downloading, but it's even more sad to see that what this all boils down to is money. whatever happen to the filmmakers that just wanted to craft their art and wasn't in it for the paycheck only. clearly the case here if they are seriously considering not doing a sequel. i understand that the studio has to get paid but all this article says to anyone who reads it is "we're just making movies for money". pretty shameful, hollywood. next time, don't be so obvious about. it makes me, an actual paying ticket buyer, feel like i got screwed. to sum this article up, it's like a kid who pitches a fit and threatens to take his ball home because other kids are not playing "fair".
Posted by: mramerica on November 11, 2009 at 11:23:22
Get this Hollywood, I OWE you nothing! At the end of the year I can't claim you on my taxes. Don't tell me about 30 million dollar actors and then bitc# about "piracy"
Don't ever ASSUME I would have paid because I wouldn't. If you want an honest days pay for an honest days work go dig ditches and get a real job.
God bless my internet brothers and sisters who put on programs with original music intact, they don't try to nickle and dime for every minute of "entertainment" keep it free!
Posted by: djblack1313 on November 11, 2009 at 11:34:55
LOL. what a crybaby douche Rhett is. and by all means don't make a Z2. the first one sucked REALLY bad (IMO).
Posted by: devilman on November 11, 2009 at 12:00:35
Hey! Don't blame Joe Downloader. Blame Hollywood! If they'd put out consistently good stuff instead the next piece of crap that comes across their desk, people would be more inclined to slap down $10 to take a chance at the theater. I can't afford to throw down $40 for my girl and I to spend an evening at the movies watching something that I've already seen 100 times or barely able to sit through it this time. HOLLYWOOD SHOULD GO SEE A MOVIE ONCE IN A WHILE.
