Source:Dread Central
November 6, 2009

Dread Central's Sean Decker just returned from a visit to the set of Dark Days, the 30 Days of Night sequel and learned of some additional casting on the flick.

We already knew about Kiele Sanchez (who replaces Melissa George as Stella), Mia Kirshner (playing vampire Lilith), Diora Baird (Night Of The Demons), Rhys Coiro (Straw Dogs) and Harold Perrineau. According to the article, Troy Ruptash (as Agent Norris), Jackson Berlin, John De Santis, Marco Sorian and Katherine Isabelle (Ginger Snaps, Freddy Vs Jason) have also all joined the cast.

Ben Ketai's directing from a screenplay written by Steve Niles and Ketai. You can check out some location pics from Decker's report right here. As well as some comments from Niles about adapting his original graphic novel series into a screenplay at our previous news post here.

It will be straight to DVD, they already announced it as part of a Ghost House lineup of movies that are straight to video. You can also tell it by the cast which comprises of tv stars mostly. But they said it will be made high production values so we'll just have to wait and see. Personally I'm looking forward to it as Steve Niles had a hand in the script.

whoever makes the decision to make this a dvd release is a complete moron. The first movie was successful enough to make it a theatrical release. Not to mention it gained more popularity after it was out on dvd. Also with the whole vampire craze going on right now with Twilight and True Blood and Vampire Diaries how can they not capitalize on the popularity of vampires and make it good enough to be a theatrical release? What a bunch of morons. I have no hope for this movie. Lets be real, theres a reason movies go straight to dvd.

i'm cautiously optimistic with this. i LOVE 30 DAYS and i'm really bummed that Melissa isn't returning but Kiele is pretty good too! i agree the vampire craze is here but what i've learned from checking out IMDB's The Vampire Diaries and Twilight's board is that most of those fans don't like (or some haven't even heard of) 30 DAYS OF NIGHT!!! so they wouldn't really spill over into helping 30 DAYS very much.

I loved 30 days of night, that movie was as badass as John Carpenter's The Thing, which is still a masterpiece by today's standards. I think this movie could've had a theatrical release, but maybe they'll play it at the Capital Theater downtown.

Josh Hartnett totally killed that vampire Black Adam status: with his hand through the back of his head!

Why doing a movie when you already know the sequel gonna suck. It's always the same thing and more if the cast is not famous at all. Who wants to see Diora Baird or even Rhys Coiro. Put Robert Englund or Kane hodder and i'm in!!

Jake, overated fact...get lo*t!
