David Goyer Drops Hints on Ghost Rider 2
November 4, 2009

Last month, it was reported that Columbia Pictures was moving forward with a sequel to
Ghost Rider, this time using an 8 year old script by David Goyer as their jumping point for the new film. MTV recently chatted with Goyer and he set the record straight on exactly what we can expect from
Ghost Rider 2.
"It's not exactly a reboot," he says.
"I hate to say it's more realistic, because he's got a flaming skull for a head, but it's a bit more stripped down and darker. It's definitely changing tone. What 'Casino Royale' was to the Bond movies, hopefully this will be to 'Ghost Rider.'"
"This story picks up eight years after the first film," Goyer continues.
"You don't have to have seen the first film. It doesn't contradict anything that happened in the first film, but we're pretending that our audience hasn't seen the first film. It's as if you took that same character where things ended in the first film and then picked it up eight years later—he's just in a much darker, existential place."
Shooting is expected to begin sometime next year with Nicolas Cage still attached to reprise the role of Johnny Blaze/
Ghost Rider.
The second installment will be produced by Avi Arad, Michael De Luca and Steven Paul, with Gary Foster serving as executive producer. More when we hear it!

Darker.... like the ridiculous amount of black hair dye and fake tan Cage used in the first one to pass himself off as a 30 something.
The first film sucked ass, no doubt this one will be the same.

It would be a good opportunity for Frank Welker to redeem himself for using Dr. Claw's voice in Transformers: RotF

It all sounded pretty good untill "Shooting is expected to begin sometime next year with Nicolas Cage still attached to reprise the role of Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider."
I like Nic Cage well enough, I just don't buy him in the role. The first movie was too damn goofy.
