Ghost, Werewolf, Vampire Trio Leap the Pond

Syfy has ordered up 13 episodes of Being Human, an American take on the British television series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is now seeking a writer to adapt the story of a ghost, a vampire and a werewolf who shack up in an apartment and try to live their lives.

"It turned out great as we can now do an American version," Syfy president Dave Howe tells the trade. "We've always been keen on vampires and werewolves, and we loved the originality of 'Being Human,' the fact that the fantastical creatures in it are very young, accessible and charming."

The British Being Human currently airs on BBC America, so Syfy is pushing hard to do their own approach to the idea rather than copy the original series.

too bad scyFi did not make an agreement to air the orginal version while they work on their new take on the series fill in since the plan is that their version of being human will not debute till summer of this coming new year. the orginal could hve been a fill in. by time.

I do not understand why American TV networks insist on remaking British shows. There is no point. Ashes to Ashes was a brilliant show, the US version was rubbish. Its not like we British speak a different language to the Americans. We should start remaking all the American shows instead of using the originals. I think its disrespectful to the cast of the British shows because the US audiences are intelligent enough to get our cultural differences. God, we watch True Blood without a problem!
