Hellboy Writer's Genre Bending Mortis Rex

The Mummy producer Jim Jax and Hellboy co-scribe Peter Briggs have teamed up for the supernatural action film Mortis Rex.

Project was teased at the American Film Market last year. Shooting is expected to begin in 2010 in the UK, Italy and Eastern Europe. According to Screen Daily, the film tells of "a disgraced Roman soldier who is given the chance to redeem himself when he investigates a spate of brutal murders."

Jacks tells the outlet: "Mortis Rex' s uniquely original, blood chilling telling of the legend of the Lost Legion with a monster movie twist has the makings of a truly exciting and commercial movie that is sure to spark excitement from global audiences."
