Ghost House Officially Announces 30 Days of Night: Dark Days

October 22, 2009

Stage 6 and Ghost House have officially announced the principal photography star of 30 Days of Night: Dark Days, the sequel to 2007's 30 Days of Night.

The cast includes Kiele Sanchez (A Perfect Getaway), Diora Baird (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning), Rhys Coiro (Straw Dogs), Mia Kirshner (The L Wor), and Harold Perrineau (Lost).

Here's the official synopis: It's been a year since the Alaskan town of Barrow's population was decimated by vampires during its annual month long sunset. Riddled with grief over the death of her husband, bound by nightmares and void of all emotions beyond hate and sorrow, Stella (Sanchez) has spent the past months traveling the world, trying to convince others that vampires exist. Met with skepticism and laughter, Stella is ready to throw in the towel when a group of lost souls (Coiro, Baird and Perrineau) offers an incredible opportunity: the chance to exact revenge upon Lilith (Kirshner), the vampire queen responsible for the assault on her sleepy Alaskan town. With nothing remaining to live for, and nothing left to fear, Stella joins their mission and ventures into the uncharted underbelly of Los Angeles where she pushes herself to the most extreme limits to stop the evil from striking again.

Produced by Stage 6 Films and Ghost House Pictures, 30 Days of Night: Dark Days marks director Ben Ketai's first feature film and is based on a screenplay written by Steve Niles and Ketai.

Niles talked to us about the adaptation process here!

New group of actors, straight to dvd, moving to LA and a first time director? This all spells disaster for a franchise that had a decent first film.

The people that complain about the movie being set in Los Angeles clearly did not read the comic. Dark Days is set in LA, where the vampire Lillith and her coven is. I will definitely will be seeing it. The comic was great and with Steve Niles aboard it should not stray too far from the source material.

Don't like that Melissa George did not come back for the sequel. Doesn't make me want to watch it. I hate when they replace people for sequels. Like Bernie Mac in Bill Murray's role for Charlie's Angles 2 haha.
