DON"T BOTHER, The first was awesome. Everything after was and will be ****!
Posted by: krypto on October 20, 2009 at 21:23:19
@ devilman:
I agree with you, the first one was not only great, but the best. The one and only. Now, I am not so much opposed to a reboot per say, but Stephen Norrington isn't the best director to me. Also, documentary style? Will see...
Posted by: dranusface on October 20, 2009 at 22:00:27
if this is all shakey camera bull**** "documentary style" it'll be terrible
Posted by: 788 on October 20, 2009 at 22:21:36
make it. im not bankrolling it. nor will i be forced to see it.
seriously, i know its all some people have to cling to, but the coronaries over movies, in any stage of production, need to stop.

@788
I couldn't agree more. People get waaaaayyy too caught up in this sh_t.
@ devilman,
The first WAS awesome, I'm not debating that. But it was NOTHING like the original comic series, and was waaayyyy too toned down for my liking. It practically wasn't even the same story anymore. I'm actually disappointed that this is NOT a remake, I was actually looking forward to a movie based on (and not just inspired by) the original series. But the whole "featuring a new character" thing just sounds like yet another sequel.

The original film is one of my favorite movies, so the notion of a re-make/boot/invention/imagining/what the hell ever doesn't sit very well with me, especially considering how quickly the initial franchise went downhill.
Still, though, James O'Barr's graphic novel does have a wealth of material yet to be mined that could make for compelling cinema. I just hope Norrington's heart is in the right place, and we don't wind up with another LXG.
Posted by: STUDmuffin220 on October 20, 2009 at 23:22:17
Whats wrong with Stephen Norrington?
Dont tell me you guys didn't enjoy Blade and LXG lol
I have faith in this movie, and hopefully they go with the storyline from the comics this time around but I highly doubt it that they will...
And yes the first was AMAZAZING :]
Now the most important thing is who they will choose to take over Brandon Lee
I have no clue lol..
Any suggestions guys?
Posted by: Ryan on October 21, 2009 at 00:34:56
the new movie will suck! end of story case closed! Brandon lee was the crow! or should I say the one and only Eric Draven! anyway who ever wants this to be remade or wants an reimagine **** you! im my opinion these people who are remaking this movie are pissing on Brandon Lee's grave and performance and shame on them! certain movies should just be left alone.

Guess it's not a good day to be a bad guy, huh, Skank?
Posted by: The4thperson on October 21, 2009 at 00:43:51
Well they can go ahead and make it, not like any of us could actually prevent it. So I'll just in the words of Joss Whedon when he got word of a Buffy The Vampire Slayer remake.....I hope it doesn't suck haha
Posted by: Caterpillar on October 21, 2009 at 03:51:17
If you people were fans of the original comic book you'd welcome a remake/reboot. While I enjoy the Proyas flick on its own terms, it was a pretty lousy adaptation of the comic.
Posted by: Jango on October 21, 2009 at 07:31:07
Documentary style???? No thanks.
Posted by: Boogeyshoes on October 21, 2009 at 09:11:05
Gotta love "realistic" films about supernatural avengers. (rolls eyes)
Posted by: Ryan on October 21, 2009 at 10:38:12
It wasn't a lousy adaptation "caterpiller", it was a great film everything about it was just.......perfect, the actors, the original score for the film, the soundtrack, the atmosphere of the film just everything. but those of you that want the remake enjoy but it will suck. mark my words and I guarantee you they are saying right now it will be different from the original, don't get me wrong even if it is different it will suck anway but it won't be any different.

We can all thank Twilight for this ****in horse****. Let anarchy rise and lets burn the ****in sets when they're built, and destroy everything about this mockery of art. I'm sick and ****in tired of seeing movie art being retooled/reimagined/re-****in-anything. If they're out of ideas, they should be ****in men and not look for something they can possible leech off. But that wont happen, because this is someone elses earth. Or they lead us to think that way.

I was actually just talking to James O'Barr about this at the Big Apple Comicon. He is totally "whatever" about the whole thing. He thinks they should just stop making Crow movies and leave it alone becasue the first one was so good it doesn't NEED to be remade.
He also said he has heard inside talk of Jason Statham mentioned for Draven. Oh dear God I hope that doesn't come to pass.
His comments on the Stathe being Draven?
"Yeah Statham is cool in some things, but he doesn't exactly have that GOTHIC quality about him either"
Posted by: AintNoSaint on October 21, 2009 at 13:54:56
"Whereas [Alex] Proyas' original was gloriously gothic and stylized, the new movie will be realistic, hard-edged and mysterious, almost documentary-style."
...yeah, the crow is supposed to be gothic and stylized, or it isn't the crow. i wish hollywood would stop butchering classics.
the original film is my favorite film of all time. it was put together beautifully, it does sway from the graphic novel, but as a movie itself is just amazing.
the cast was great, the music, the darkness of the film, the overall message of real love is forever, everything about it. everything after has been a real let down, from city of angels to salvation to wicked prayer and i don't even want to mention the terrible tv series 'stairway to heaven' just leave it be hollywood.
Posted by: Jango on October 21, 2009 at 14:46:36
I agree with AintNoSaint. The Crow is supposed to be dark, gothic and stylized like the original. If it loses those qualities, it will become another Wicked Prayer fiasco.

If this film is going to be different, then why promote it as a remake if it really isn't(like so many of this decade's so-called "remakes")?
And just who is going to fill in for Brandon Lee,since the likes of Vincente Perez,Edward Furlong, and Eric Whats-His-Name were no match for him(in those weak sequels),and even Mark Dacascos(who looks like Brandon Lee)couldn't shine over him in that weak TV series THE CROW:STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN(which tried to remake THE CROW as a lengthy TV show).
Posted by: MagnaderAlpha on October 21, 2009 at 21:04:07
Boogeyshoes, LOL, you captured my thoughts exactly. What's the facination with wanting to make everything more realistic? I mean, c'mon! I bet you, give it 10 or 20 years from now they are going to look back(and have a REAL "I Love the New Millenium", cause talking about the 2000s while you're in them is too bias) and people are going to say, "Man, what was up with 2000s? Everything was all wannabe 'realistic'. Hell, even the unrealistic stuff was realistic. What the hell where they thinking. Fauxhawks, Soulja Boy, Lady Gaga, wannabe realistic movies that all had muted colors? I'm glad I don't live back then anymore!!".
Posted by: RedCarpetMage on October 22, 2009 at 09:38:55
Realistic? Documentary-style?
Why don't they just make a Batman movie with bright colors, campy dialogue and nipples on the Batsuit?
Oh, wait...
Posted by: GammaBob on October 24, 2009 at 18:26:41
@ Ryan,
Oh please, just quit it with the whole "Brandon Lee IS The Crow" nonsense. He was NOT the Crow. He was an actor playing a role, nothing more, nothing less. He did a great job, I'm not disputing that, but just because he died doesn't mean no one else can play the role, operative word being "role".
By your reasoning I guess both Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan were pissing on Cesar Romero's memory by casting someone else as The Joker? I guess everyone whose ever made a Frankenstein movie was pissing on Boris Karloff's memory? Maybe Joe Johnston is pissing on Lon Chaney Jr's memory by having Benecio Del Toro play Talbot?
I would totally be down with the idea of seeing someone remake The Crow even though it is one of my top five favorite movies of all time. For the simple reason that as much as I love it, like caterpillar said, it is a pretty poor adaptation of the original story. Yes Lee did a fantastic job, but let's face it, just because he's dead does not mean someone else may not come along and do as good a job, or dare I say, maybe even a BETTER job portraying the character. Stranger things have happened. Just look at my Joker example. Are you honestly going to tell me that Heath Ledger did not do a better job bringing the Joker to life than Cesar Romero?
Point being that the Eric character did not begin and end with Brandon Lee, as I said, he was only an actor playing the role.
But alas your juvenile little rant (and I'm sure the rant to come) is all for naught. If you had bothered to actually read the article before flying off the handle you'd see that they are not using the Eric character, it's a "reboot featuring a new character." In other words, just another sequel. So you can rest your little mind and be content that no one is trying to replace Brandon Lee......yet. But I for one am actually keeping my fingers crossed that someone will eventually get the balls to actually do so.
Posted by: Ryan on October 27, 2009 at 17:35:35
GammaBob I understand what your point is but it just can't be done for this MOVIE! Im sorry if you don't appreciate lee's performace. I know you said you do, but obviously you were not satisfied because if you were you wouldn't agree with a "reboot". Now I will admit you stopped me in my tracks because I love lon chaney in the wolfman and boris karloff as frankenstein and I am open arms to both movies being remade. But when it comes to the crow I just don't see it happening. Mark my words this movie will be a scene for scene and probably almost line for line like the original. Even if they do get the balls to do it, it will crash and burn because I will repeat brandon lee was and is the only crow/eric draven. I really don't know how unaware you are on how good that movie really is.... Also try to imagine them remaking jaws it can't be done. I mean do you remember the scene when quint gives the speech about the USS Indianapolis on the boat that scene is untouchable alone not to mention the rest of the movie. It would be like trying to find another Quint. Robert shaw is Quint. certain actors are destined for certain roles. I guess I see certain movies as if it worked the first time then why go back and try to fix it.
Posted by: Ryan on October 27, 2009 at 17:46:10
I mean to each his own but I seriously think they should throw away the script and put this movie back on the shelf.... and save themselves the embarrassment. As for heath he was great but if you compare him to nicholson I think he was just ok. Nicholson played the comic book joker while heath played a sociopath who loved putting paint on his face. Don't get me wrong heath kicked ass but if you really wan't to focus on who gave a better performace as the character it would be jack by along shot.
