Burg on Saw VI Versus Paranormal Activity

"They're coming at us head-on," said Twisted Pictures' Mark Burg recently when ShockTillYouDrop.com asked him how he felt about Paramount positioning their wide release of Paranormal Activity against the debut of Saw VI.

The producer isn't at all worried, though. "It's great. It's good for everybody. Our trailer is on their movie, so I want them to do a bunch of business. I think it's just good."

This Friday, Paramount is expected to release Paranormal Activity in an additional 1,000 theaters. The film grossed $20 million in 760 theaters over the weekend.

Saw VI will open in 3,000 theaters this weekend.

i hate that no movie (til now) has had any balls to "go up" against the SAW's. give some of us who aren't into the SAW movies something else to see!! even though i've already seen PA, i'm thrilled people have something else to watch. the SAW movies have sucked since part 3.

I definitely don't think it should be labeled a competition. It can appeal to a different audience that the Saw series doesn't and I think that is great. I am thinking about a Where the Wild Things Are, Paranormal Activity and Saw VI triple feature this Friday.

Mark Burg sounds like a bigger and bigger douche-nozzle with each new interview.

Dude, "High School Musical 3" was up against "Saw 5" last year, and the latter debuted at #2. Stop complaining.

Gern, i totally agree w/ you. every interview/blurb/comment i've read from this guy (Burg) makes him seem like a total douche.
