More Planning, Big Gags Needed for Saw VII in 3-D

A bit more lead time is needed to create Saw VII, which is hitting theaters in October of 2010.

Twisted Pictures producer Mark Burg told the press next year's entry is slightly more expensive and involves more pre-production. Why? Because it will be shot in 3-D with Saw V's David Hackl back in the director's chair.

Burg says he was impressed by a brief presentation he saw of the original Saw in 3-D and felt the series lent itself to the format.

"It's worth it," he explains. "We want to be able to build the sets that take advantage of depth. We're going to design traps to come at you. The pendulum trap that opened the last movie would have been great in 3-D."

He's excited by the prospect of the next entry and compares some of the gags they've got in mind to My Bloody Valentine 3D. "A lot of the movie we're planning where the victim's eye, stuff is coming towards them. They're point of view. I think the audience wants some Bloody Valentine-type moments where the gun comes into the audience and stuff like that."

Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton are writing the seventh entry.

that's all fine and well FOR THE THEATER. do these people not understand that in 2D, at home on DVD it is NOT good viewing so much?!! from what Burg is describing it COULD be cool, again, IN THE THEATER, but it sounds like it will suck REALLY bad in 2D. i hate this assault on the horror genre by 3D.

3D movies only will work once every theater can present them in 3D. I saw my bloody valentine both ways, it was better in 3D but most people wont know that. STOP WITH THE 3D ALREADY

They're only doing 3D cause they need to be more diverse in the next Saws. After 6 movies they have no choice BUT to be different from the rest or eventually the audience will get bored.
I'm so pumped for the 6th one, and it bring back a good story or else i'm gonna be dissapointed.

I'm not a huge fan of 3D, but I'm willing to give this a shot. But PLEASE do not do that stupid cheesy Bloody Valentine gun-in-our-face scene. It was retarded and was 100% obvious that it was there simply for the 3D.

And I agree about that DVD thing. 3D movies are cool in theaters, but they're destroying home viewing.
