This first photo from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse featuring Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen and Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan was going to debut in an upcoming issue of People magazine, but it has already made its way online.

The this entry is directed by David Slade, the man who brought us Hard Candy and 30 Days of Night (the reason we've got our eye on the project). The film is coming to theaters on June 30, 2010. The second installment, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, hits theaters next month on November 20th.

Someone please destroy the entire Twilight series... The SFX are worse than the live action Mortal Kombat tv show that was on USA and the story is terribly written and nothing but plagiarism

Thanks for your opinion Kane. Unfortunately, millions of people don't share it. The good thing is no one will force you to watch the movie, comment on websites about it, or read the books.

I'm not a fan of the Twilight series at all. Don't get me wrong, obviously it makes money, but I feel as if the directional pull to that teen girl fantasy demographic is too strong. So far, for every movie they've made, it's been of Edward and Bella canoodling or their teen angst is just too much to bare.

I get it. But, in the future, if they want to sell it off, or go with more demographics, how about showing something other than "high-school sweethearts" about to make out? Maybe a couple of the vampires snarling, or even some of the overgrown weredogs barking?

Before people start *****ing - I KNOW that the novels are about Edward and Bella's unbreakable bond or whatever. I'm just saying that there's a vampire movie with shape shifters in it, and I have to sit through the the lovey dovey crap. I mean, if they could add a little more horror to it, I'm sure the hardcore fans wouldn't mind all that much. At least that way, we all might win.

Just my opinion. Get what I'm trying to say?

Yeah- let me say that I have read these books and they are NOT horror novels. Not even close. They're romantic fantasy novels and fine for what they are. But I don't care what David Slade has directed before- he's making a movie based on books that are popular to a certain demographic and he won't be pushing it into the direction of "30 Days..." to appeal to horror fans. Any horror fans who see it won't be seeing it because they are horror fans, they'll be seeing it because of who they're dating or married to.

So as someone who liked the books even I would like the coverage on Shock to stop. Or at least focus on the "monsters"...

SGL - I'm not trying to put words in your mouth, or even saying that your post was a reply to mine, but I never really thought for a second they were horror novels, I just meant it seems that I should be watching this considering there ARE "monsters", like vampires and werewolves, and with Slade directing. But, I can't seem to look past the whole romantic following.

Trust me, if it was something like 30 Days, I'd probably see it. But, I'm aware it's mainly about a emo type of girl who falls in love with a vampire, thus fantasy. Guess I just can't get past a vampire who glitters in the sun. I mean, I do that, and I'm not a vampire, I'm Irish.

But, I agree 100% with you on the coverage. Doesn't really seem to fit on Shock.

I'm a huge gore hound, but for some reason I was pulled into the world of Twilight. It could be that I'm from the Seattle area (Bothell.. about 3 hours by car and ferry from Forks) but I think it's an interesting love triangle story with a monster twist. It's not like this series is taking over the Horror Genre...if anything its helping it. This was all and all a great year for horror....Good movies that were successful, My Bloody Valentine, Orphan, Zombieland. Paranormal Activity, Final Destination, Last House on the Left. And hit's that were mediocre to bad - Friday the 13th, Halloween 2. This year also brought us the wonderful Drag me to Hell. So people stop winning on how they are making "Teen Horror Movies" since they are still giving us what we want in spades. At least they are making these teen films with horror elements in them.....it's better than more movies like "Shes All That", and "Babysitters Club".

I think this picture is from New Moon not Eclipse. Kristen is wearing hair extension not a wig.

Posted by: Matthew H. on October 13, 2009 at 20:37:16

You're totally right Becky. Both People and Shock are lying to you. I mean, just look at the hair, it isn't like they filmed New Moon and Eclipse almost back to back or anything.

And Shock, I beg you to stop covering this. I'm sure it brings your site more viewers, but as a horror fan, it literally causes me physical pain.

hey kane..if you hate it so much why are you even on here looking at it...even more pathetic is that your going out of your way to critisize a book youve probably never read and going on limb thinking that it sucks...just wait until furhter movies come out and then i garuntee you will find yourself really liking them...if you dont like them, thats fine but seriously dont come on here hating on something you dont eve know about..alot of people really like it.
