Platinum Dunes Now At Paramount Pictures

Paramount Pictures has signed a first-look producing deal with Platinum Dunes, the genre division run by Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form according to Variety.

This makes the Platinum Dunes crew the "go-to guys" for low budget genre material for Paramount.

"We offer a valuable service to the studio, especially with all this turmoil going on in the business right now, in that we do things cheaply, and we've had a lot of success with it," Bay says. "Through the first two 'Transformers' films, I've gotten to know the studio very well, and I've got a good rhythm with them. I'm excited about this."

Adam Goodman, the president of the Paramount Pictures Film Group adds, "What makes us so excited to have Platinum Dunes here at Paramount is how Michael, Brad and Andrew carved out an important niche for themselves over the past few years. They have consistently created excitingly commercial movies that have proven to be a formidable force at the box office. We look forward to a long and productive partnership with them."

First on the slate will be The Butcherhouse Chronicles, a thriller scripted by Stephen Susco (The Grudge) described in the article as "The Breakfast Club" in a haunted house. The producers have also come aboard the Paramount project Property of the State, a Howard Franklin-scripted thriller about a young white-collar criminal whose attempt to straighten out his life is imperiled by an obsessive and menacing parole officer.

Fuller said while Platinum Dunes has made its bones in genre, the producers want to branch into action and thriller films under the new deal. "The key is making them at a low budget," Fuller said.

Platinum Dunes has made a name for themselves in the genre by remaking everything from to Friday The 13th to The Amityville Horror. Up next is a remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street due in theaters April 30th.

And... let the comments begin... now!

Oh God. That pic of Bay up there has "huge douche bag" written all over it. OH and Transformers had a cheap budget? LOL. **** Me. I'm sorry to ***** about this...but...

"They have consistently created excitingly commercial movies that have proven to be a formidable force at the box office."

They did JUST THAT, commercial horror movies...same ole predictable ****. I'm happy that horror is getting better recognition it's been getting these few years, but I'm honestly TIRED of all the lame rehashing, predictability we're seeing at the ****ing box office. The only that has been so refreshing lately is Paranormal Activity and Zombieland.

And Trick 'r Treat was awesome and guess what? WB had to release it on DVD and it's THE best genre film I've seen in a while, while they also put out stupid **** at the BO. So I guess Bay is gonna stick is dipstick in that PA when it's released on a wide scale too, huh?

And what about the ****ing fans?
