Friday the 13th Part 2 Date Official

Source:Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor
October 1, 2009

New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. made it official today. Friday the 13th Part 2, a sequel to this year's Friday the 13th, is slated to hit on August 13, 2010.

Brad Fuller and Andrew Form tipped us off back in June right here, that if all goes according to plan, that was the date they were looking at. Fuller stresses to us, however, that the sequel still does not have a greenlight.

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift will return to write. And Derek Mears will absolutely be back to reprise his role as Jason Voorhees, contrary to the many wild rumors running around on the web.

i'm excited! i liked the reboot but they need to make it gorier/bloodier. it was virtually bloodless. and can they give us a GOOD chase scene (like Helen's in I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST...)? keep Derek Mears too!

Yes!!!! I still love the Friday the 13th remake and I surely will love this one next year! I wonder if Amanda Righetti and Jared Padalecki will be back to reprise for their roles again.
I wish that Danielle Panabaker would coming back to the sequel but instead she had to be killed off in the first one.

Alright the first one was not good, but certainly not bad.
I just hope they take a serious a little this time..and show more jason doing badass stuff, cause hes the baddest mofo :]
But seriously cant they find new writers, cause they SUCKED!!
And maybe a new director

What do yall think??

I liked the remake. It did a good job in letting the audience know how the hell he got around the woods so fast. I like the feeling that they gave you in feeling that he could be right under your feet at any time. I agree that Danielle Panabaker should have lived through the 1st film. But who's to say that they couldn't just make it to where she was stabbed and left for dead by Jason while he was going after whitney and clay. Then you find out in the beginning of part 2 that the paramedics find her body in the tunnel but she's actually alive. She could totally pull off the heroine of the entire movie. Just a Thought.

i hope they stick with the snow idea that would be badass!!!

Posted by: Studmuffin220 on October 1, 2009 at 22:29:43

Hope they go with the whole Snowy/winter theme :]
They've never done that in Friday the 13th movie

I wish I can direct my own Friday the 13th movie :[

Studmuffin220, i agree. these "writers" (the same jokes who "wrote" FvJ...awful!) need to go! they DO not know what FRIDAY fans let alone horror movie fans want.

Posted by: Studmuffin220 on October 1, 2009 at 23:00:34

Agh man I cant tell you how much better the movie would be better off without them :I

I remember towards the ending of Friday the 13th (spoilers warning) Jason gets some chain around his neck and they throw then end to some grinding machine, and as soon as Jasons face is ready to get sliced into a billion pieces, Amandi Righetti (I forgot the characters name) comes from behind and says the most cheesiest line evaaaa.."Say hi to mommy for me.....in hell" I couldnt help but look down and say "wow did she really say that" lmao

That's is why I BEG they get new writers, ones who can write a great story, and maybe some original unique kills this time :/

the re-make wasn't so great, but hopefully, they do it better.

and am not going to type your name cause it's just weird, but yeah, i agree with you with the whole snowy/winter theme, that would be different

Posted by: Studmuffin220 on October 1, 2009 at 23:04:55

Yeah Jason I feel kinda weird typing it myself lol
Just call me muffin I guess
Or stud, whatever you prefer ;]

hope they go with the winter theme, that would be tight. plus it is something different for a change. hell yeah.

YES YES YES YES YES YES
THANKS RYAN!!!!!!!

So I see they are going to head up with Mr. Krueger for 2010....

Posted by: francesco on October 2, 2009 at 05:57:04

how is it possible to get a date but not a greenlight yet?

Posted by: Louise Smith on October 2, 2009 at 08:02:14

YES, YES, A MILLION BILLION TRILLION TIMES YES! The Friday the 13th is the sexiest horror movie franchise in the world. I am a true survivor because of them. They are also super duper awesome for sleepovers. By the time I get the lipoma from my back removed (I hope I am still alive, healthy, and well after the risky procedure), I hoped to present the entire Friday the 13th horror movie franchise; either on VHS, DVD, or Blu-Ray; at the spectacular sleepovers of my future beautiful daughters and my future beautiful stepdaughters.

Posted by: wyngarde on October 2, 2009 at 11:33:56

And with any luck, it will never get a green light!

Posted by: Logan on October 2, 2009 at 13:58:08

with any luck, pt.2,3,4,5,6, all of them will get the green light. Loved the new one more than the originals. Sure there was not that much blood but the unexpectedness of some of the killings as well as a couple of the painfullness(screwdriver) of some of the killings if what I liked. Jason was ruthless and brutal and I want to see more.

Posted by: DarrenSuds on October 2, 2009 at 14:46:05

Go for it....keep Jason alive forever!

Posted by: Steven Millan on October 2, 2009 at 17:33:40

I surely hope that they concentrate on more gore kills and Jason action and less teen drama(which is what unfortunately drowned down the last film and made it play more like DEGRASSI THE 13TH.),and that they stay on that previously announced snowbound season Camp Crystal Lake idea, for just think of the all of the cool and vicious things that Jason could do with icicles, snow sled blades, snowboarding skis, and snowplows.

Posted by: Nico on October 2, 2009 at 19:13:03

The snow idea wouldn't be bad. Something different. I just find it funny how a movie has a release date, yet hasn't been green lit yet.

Well since this comes out on 8/13/10 then we will probably see a trailer with Nightmare on Elm Street in April.
