Night Of The Living Dead: Origins Coming As A 3D CGI Feature

Yet another remake of George Romero's classic zombie movie Night Of The Living Dead is being prepped by Simon West Productions with director Zebediah de Soto at the helm and Simon West and Jib Polhemus producing. The catch this time? It'll actually be a 3D CGI interpretation depicting a new origins storyline.

Night Of The Living Dead: Origins will update the original tale by fleshing out the backstories of the characters. De Soto, who co-wrote the script with David R. Schwartz calls his version "an American-style anime."

New Golden Digital, a company founded by De Soto and Gus Malliarodakis will be creating brand new technology to capture their vision. According to the original post on The Hollywood Reporter, "The duo created and designed a real-time effects system, known as 'The Beast', which allows filmmakers the ability to direct CG performances the same way they would direct real live actors. The aim of the process is to make tennis balls on a stick representing real people or monsters a thing of the past by allowing actors interact with CG elements as if they are tangible."

De Soto has one short film titled War Dogs under his belt. Simon West is the director of When A Stranger Calls, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Con Air. More on this project when we hear it!

I realize that Night of the Living Dead is in the public domain and anyone can do anything they want with/to it, but do we need the constant ass raping of Romero's classic?

Hollywood has to remake it so they can ruin a perfectly good story with over-the-top special effects and bore us with meaningless added character development. Just like they did with Dracula, Frankenstein and soon to be Wolfman.

Don't forget soon after wolfman, Creature from the Black Lagoon
