Universal Pictures has revealed the new trailer for director Joe Johnston's The Wolfman, opening in theaters on February 12. You can watch the trailer using the player below or in QuickTime here. We've also received even more photos, which you can check out here!
In the film, Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother... and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself.
Lawrence Talbot's childhood ended the night his mother died. After he left the sleepy Victorian hamlet of Blackmoor, he spent decades recovering and trying to forget. But when his brother's fiancée, Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt), tracks him down to help find her missing love, Talbot returns home to join the search. He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, and that a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector named Aberline (Hugo Weaving) has come to investigate.
As he pieces together the gory puzzle, he hears of an ancient curse that turns the afflicted into werewolves when the moon is full. Now, if he has any chance at ending the slaughter and protecting the woman he has grown to love, Talbot must destroy the vicious creature in the woods surrounding Blackmoor. But as he hunts for the nightmarish beast, a simple man with a tortured past will uncover a primal side to himself... one he never imagined existed.

Umm. . . they took it down. It says zero videos, and it isn't on the main site. I was really looking forward to it, to.
Or is it just not up yet? Or are they having an Avatar style apple.com meltdown at yahoo, as well?

Yeah, it is working now. Yahoo HD trailers never work for me, so I had to watch it in terrible standard-res, but looks good. (the movie looks good, that is, the video quality is awful.)

Wow, I am impressed, looks a lot different then the original and also has that homage of the classic one in there. Great actors as well, really looking forward to it.

WAYYYY to much CGI. much of the beginning of the trailer is spot on. really beautifully shot but once it started looking like VAN HELSING and the entire thing became a CGI fest....it lost my interest for the most part.

AWESOME, let The Wolfman cometh!!!! Beware the Moon...The trailer was great and I noticed that del Toro looks, in certain scenes like Chaney at times IMO. Dark, moody and gothic/epic looking, can't wait!

They already have the director and such for the Creature remake set. Isn't the same guy that's doing this, thank God. Totally agree with the CGI being overdone, plus Benicio just doesn't look right. I don't mean that he doesn't look like Chaney or anything, just that he doesn't appear very comfortable with things and looks kind of wooden.

Too much CGI?? Are you kidding??? Looked nothing like the fake ass Van Helsing werewolf transformation. This Wolfman trailer looked good.
Now if only they would remake the HOWLING.

your gonna piss me right off

Everyone knows that Del Toro is a huge, and I mean huge Wolfman fan. For someone to write he looks wooden is just madness. The part is being underplayed by one of the greatest actors of his generation Haven't you seen Che, parts 1 and 2? The man is a legend in his own right, and someone of his passion for a part must be worth the price of the admission ticket alone. Combine that with high caliber supporting actors, moody sets, and the greatest living FX genius in the person of Rick Baker, and how can you not have a box office hit on your hands?
I'm only hoping this will kick-start a whole new generation of classic monster movies. Don't know about you guys, but I'm a little tired with slasher movies. Let's just hope that Universal are on the right track with this one.

To anyone that says this looks like a total CGI fest needs to do a little reading. The only thing CGI about the wolfman himself are the transformation scenes. And those were the only tue CGI shots I saw in the trailer. That is Benicio running around in an actual suit. This looks amazing in my opinion and I'll be there to see this all star cast put out a monster movie with much more class, horror, and true drama than Twilight will ever hope to have. Bring back the fierce monsters of old and stop catering to 12 year old girls hoping for Mr. Perfect-Undead-Ultra-Sensitive-Testoterone-Free rejects.

This looks excellent. Im very excited for this you know what would be pretty cool if they would use nine inch nail's song "la mer" for this movie or at least when lawrence finds out who the werewolf is. I think it would be pretty cool if they did it right. Anyway counting down the days til this bad boy comes out =].

This movie blows. I saw it at a test screening.
Posted by: Ryan on August 21, 2009 at 13:04:27
Well deez I know you hated it but did they have the zoo scene where he fights an alligator?
Posted by: deez on August 21, 2009 at 13:11:55
No. I guess if you like buckets and buckets of gore you'll like it. The acting is garbage, and it's not scary in the least. The last Joe Johnston movie I saw was Jurassic Park III, and it's not quite THAT crappy, but it's close. You'll think of Thriller the entire time.
Posted by: Sam on August 21, 2009 at 13:37:48
Instead of just randomly hating on it, can you explain why the acting is terrible?
It just seems like you're trolling the film, just to troll.
