Near Dark Making U.S. Blu-Ray Debut

Source:Lionsgate Home Entertainment
August 18, 2009

Before Kathryn Bigelow went on to direct films like Strange Days and the incredible The Hurt Locker, she put her own spin on the vampire genre in 1987's Near Dark. Although the film got trounced by The Lost Boys at the box office, Near Dark proved to have more bit, so to speak (although I do love Lost Boys).

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has officially announced the Blu-Ray debut of Near Dark. The film streets on November 10 in 1080P High Definition Widescreen with 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio for $20. Unfortunately, I presume we'll be seeing this title arrive with Lionsgate's weak Twilight-friendly cover art - which you can see here.

Extras have not been announced.

Not only is it Twilight-friendly, but it's bad photoshop to boot.

Why can't a movie just be advertised on its own merits

That new cover art sucks, but this is one of the best movies ever. It surprises me how many people never saw it. Anyone who hasn't seen it should check it out.

I guess studios aren't getting the message. YOUR COVER ART SUCKS!
