Universal Comments on Wolfman Move

Source:Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor
July 29, 2009

Our second and, probably last, update today regarding The Wolfman.

I'll start with the good stuff. You're going to see a trailer sooner than later. Attached to Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds on August 21st, in fact.

I've spoken to my reps at Universal and have been informed the release shift had much to do with box office potential.

In its November 6th slot, the Joe Johnston film would have been going up against Disney's A Christmas Carol, whereas in February it faces little competition (although The Cabin in the Woods opens one week earlier). Futhermore, from a marketing standpoint, Universal wanted to ensure all of the FX were complete so they could use them in the ad campaign.

There you have it. We've got something to look forward to next month!

i just hope he walks upright and not on all four, because he is a wolf man,and its just right to show the original a little respect.the wolfman at the top is how it should look if not i will be highly disappointed.

Sweet! August 21st for the trailer. Looking forward to it.

Hey, Ryan, the trailer that you saw, was it the same one that was leaked a while back?

@Chris - I agree, if it's not like the pic above, it would definitely damper my hopes in the movie.

I just hope the trailer they show isn't the one from the comic con. Hopefully its completely different with glimpses of new scenes.

i think, i could be wrong, that its the werewolf that the wolfman fights at the end of the film that they did the reshoots for, i think they made the wereolf on all four legs and scarier so itl be an awsome fight at the end. Plus if you remember the original larry was bitten by a regular looking wolf, mabey they made the werewolf who bit him in this film to also be on four legs like the original. That would be cool ..... the new age wolfman fights a werewolf like the one everybody remembers in an american werewolf in london

I don't care about The Wolfman.

Just wanted to say Clayton "Sweater Zombie" Hill R. I. P.

I never forget the time my wife and I picked him up and his wife Sharon up at the airport. Both were so incredibly nice and gracious.

Saw a test screening for this about six months ago. Most of the effects were in place. It's absolutely garbage. The Universal reps were douches too. Don't get your hopes up.

Not expecting much from this. I thank god that they moved it from Nov. 6th because that's my birthday and i don't want to think of this terrible movie every time i'm blowing out my candles.

Studio Bull$hit!!! They're not happy with it so they push to Feb. Has nothing to do the FX.

Movies usually get pushed back because they suck and the studios know it.
