Wolfman Trapped in Release Date Curse

Source:Universal Pictures
July 28, 2009

You'll have to wait a bit longer to see Benicio Del Toro howl at the moon as The Wolfman.

Universal Pictures is pushing the film out of its November 6th slot and placing it on February 12, 2010. That's one week after the release of the creature feature The Cabin in the Woods by Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon.

We can't tell you exactly why Universal has made the shift. It could be due to the additional shooting that occurred earlier this year that reportedly involved FX artist Rick Baker. The radical release date bumps (original from April to November now next year) don't bode well buzz-wise. Here's hoping for the best!

I hope that release date switch works out well for the new WOLFMAN,since that film shows a lot of promise and 2010(the start of a new dacade)looks to be a very promising year for(a lot of ambitious and just-as-much-promising)films.

Maybe it's for the best. Horror movies and movies with dark subject matters released around Thanksgiving and Christmas usually don't do well at all (Sweeny Todd, Punisher War Zone, Valkerie). Plus, the extra time will give them a chance to do it right and not rush it. The trailer leaked earlier this year looked great! Even if the movie isn't good, I'd still pay to see Rick Baker's amazing special effects! Looking forward to it.

Good. This movie is going to suck. I don't hate remakes, it's that everything i've heard about it proved to me more and more that it will be terrible.

You know what they should just scrap this movie all together Im sick of waiting. This is starting to get like Trick R Treat.

WTF!!!!? Why is it that whenever a movie gets bumped from its original release date, everyone assumes its a bad thing, I disagree...

On one side I'm like **** this movie, after hearing this news, but on the other hand I want too see this movie, i'm excited too see what this remake will turn out to be. And like some of the replies have stated, perhaps this will be for the better and a good thing. Why think negative, we haven't even seen the official trailer yet, give it a chance.

What the hell? Why-...how come-...DAMNIT!

"The Cryptkeeper" Im not bashing this film even though I just did. To be quite honest I think im the biggest fan of this remake on the site. And im not saying that to start a fight with anyone just I have been following this movie since I heard the first announcement back in march of 2006 when I heard they were digging up this classic and remaking it. I have the bootleg trailer and it looks excellent. Im just constantly tired of them switching the dates around. It's really getting old. They are doing this to market it more. Plus I lost a little bit of hope in this movie especially when I heard that they were going to use more cgi in this movie.

The Cryptkeeper

I'm not complaining because of the delay either. I've always felt this way, just ask Ryan.

Dammit ALL!!!!!

screw this, how do you get pumped for a movie when it keeps switching its damn release date. This movie is gonna do crappy at the box office because of universals date changes. Back in december of last year everyone was stoked for the film. Then it switched and the energy died, flatline. Now its doing it again so mies well go straight to dvd.

Wouldn't want to release a scary movie around Halloween now won't we, right Hollywood? Pathetic. Just pathetic. This flick is destined to bomb because of studio's meddling.

Adam,
Instead of crying and wanting to be a wolfman...I recommend that you go to school and learn how to complete a coherent sentence.

As for The Wolfman Remake. I am gifted like all you other pathetic douche bags and can see the future. This going to be awesome, no wait….it’s going to suck, no wait….I’m not gifted like all you anus hangers. I will have to actual see the movie before I pass judgment.

Wow, Horrendous!
Instead of being a complete douchebag...I recommend that you lighten up and learn how NOT to be a smug and self-congratulatory bastard online.

It makes it hard for people to care what you write.

Sheesh.

Im still sad that mark romanek didnt get the chance to make this himself... it was his baby for 5 years, until the studio came with all their bright ideas... and now these reshoots... i know it will look great, but im woried that it wont feel great...

hoping for the best

Another horror movie falling into the February trap. I would love to see most of these movies released during the Halloween season. (Halloween2 August 28TH)

More Baker, less CGI. Keep the Wolf Man suspenseful at PG-13 and Universal will make a killing. Too gory and it will lose much of the die-hard old fans and not be classy.
