Saw VII Finds Its Director

Source:Variety
July 24, 2009

David Hackl must have a thing for odd numbers. The Saw V helmer, and production designer of the previous entries, is coming back to helm Saw VII. The sequel is gaining a lot of momentum with Saw VI poised to hit theaters on October 23. For the seventh entry, Hackl will reunite with screenwriters Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Twisted Pictures will, of course, produce and Lionsgate will distribute.

I'm a Saw fan, and Saw V was the weakest entry. But seriously, how much more can they stretch this story? It's getting so lame. They should make Saw VI the last one and end on a somewhat positive note. The series could be looked at as two seperate trilogies, with I-III being Jigsaw alive, and IV-VI being the legacy he left behind.

I agree totally Jimothy. I freakin love the Saw series with some being stronger than others but to try to stretch it out to 7 is ridiculous especially when the tagline for 6 is "The Game Comes Full Circle". I wish they would just wrap up but as long as they keep making money they won't.

i love how they tell you there is going to be a 7th before the 6th even comes out. kind of ruins it knowing there is more to come.

DarkSeid, my thoughts exactly.

This is ridiculous! How about anticipate a movie, and then be told before you've seen anything from it, that there will be one right after. THAT alone should have NO ONE go see Saw 6. We dont pay to go see twoparters, etc. If they have so much story to get out then lets have 6 and 7 come out at the same time!
I have no respect for these new Saw movies. They're a waste. Pure money making machines with no substance. They're milking every little line Leigh and James wrote about in the original Saw.

Stop disrespecting the original SAW with this ****. That movie was made on dreams, and took alot from the two people involved with conceiving it.

GOOD MOVIES ARE SUPPOSED TO INSPIRE OTHER GOOD MOVIES NOT A CAST SHADOW SOULESS SEQUEL.
