Bundle Up for the Whiteout Convention Promo

Source:ShockTillYouDrop.com
June 17, 2009

Two years ago, Comic-Con attendees were treated with a first glimpse at footage from Whiteout, the delayed Kate Beckinsale thriller based on Greg Rucka's graphic novel of the same name. That was when the film was due sometime in late '07 or early '08.

We're fast approaching the film's September 11th release date and a promo has popped up online. It's an effective teaser with some grisly money shots which means this isn't the official trailer. We have been informed, however, that this has made the rounds on the convention circuit. Have a look at the preview below. What do you think of it?

Directed by Dominic Sena, the film finds Beckinsale romping around in Antarctica where she plays U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko. She's been assigned to investigate a murder before winter comes.

that was def not kiefer! this movie looks lame.

it was neither of those 2 people. Never read the book but i know of it. Looks like it could be good. Might like it more since I'm not familiar with the source material and don't see what they changed or had to leave out.

I wonder about the marketability of this movie. Set in one place, all cold and white, isolated, is a little off-putting. The delay of the movie doesn't bode well for the film. I am an Alex O'Loughlin fan and wish him all the success and good wishes there is. I have my doubts about the film, but no doubts about Alex's acting ability in it.

Bring on Alex O'Loughlin! That's all I'm looking forward to seeing. Hope they give him good screen time.

wow this film look s good, the setting that is all about. Is what gonna make this film into a classic.

A movie set in one place not marketable and off putting huh? i guess Saw, Cast Away and I am Legend all did well on pure luck. Those movies had a very limited cast too. Granted this style isn't everyone's cup of tea but i'm sure it can do well. Could compare this one to Thing in a way

AntarctiKen how so? i've never been to where you are..are you laughing at the trailer? or our comments? (not being smart ass i'm just curious to know if the trailer is being over dramatic regarding Antarctica).
i'm SO looking forward to this movie. i LOVE Kate and i LOVE snowy settings (COLD PREY 1&2 for example).

Great, so basically it's about a homicidal equivalent of those *******s who type "first!" at the start of a comments section.

I am looking forward seeing Alex O'Loughlin on the big screen!

DJblack: This is steve- the guy who drew the comic. If you want to know what Antarctica is really like for the people who live there, go to bigdeadplace.com. The comic and the movie are thrillers, but BDP is the real story.

Anyone who wants to read the comic should go to http://stevelieber.com/whiteout

looks like 30 days of night meets saw after all not all graphic novels on are based on heroes and who would not like a scary movie with Mrs. Beckinsale in a horror flic

Posted by: carlos on July 2, 2009 at 17:33:18

Kate Beckinsale is the hottest, nice body, perfect tone of skin, never had plastic surgery or **** like that...shes hot period.and that trailer is wicked!!!

Posted by: AnatarctiKen on July 2, 2009 at 17:53:05

djblack1313 Folks down here in Antarctica are laughing at the accuracy portrayed in the trailer. It is not 160 and the winds do not blow at 200 mph all the time. In rare condition 1 storms the can peak at that but for the most part is pretty tame. South Pole may hit -100f ambient in late winter. I have some storm videos on my flickr site at www.flicker.com/kenklassy.

Also it does not just get dark all of a sudden. it happens over weeks of time similar to how Alaska transitions.
