Bummer, World War Z on the Backburner

June 15, 2009

Marc Foster, director of Quantum of Solace, is in line to direct a techno-thriller entitled Disconnect. Before World War Z, sadly. News comes via Migros Magazine where Foster says the script, penned by J. Michael Straczynski, is still in development and "still far from realization." Sorry, zombie fans.

Adapted from the novel by Max Brooks, WWZ is a detailed tale in which a researcher for the U.N. Postwar Commission interviews survivors from countries all over the world, 10 years after the crisis, to gather a first-person post-mortem on a zombie war that obliterated every country on the map.

This Sucks. Get a different director then, an even better one...

And one who won't be afraid to take on the directing duties immediately.

Damn I was really looking forward to this one. If you have not read this book, put it on your summer reading list.

Man this sounded like a really good premise, pretty epic premise if you ask me. Oh well, I guess World War Z is on my summer reading list.

That's crap! WWZ was one of the best books I've ever read, and would certainly reinvigorate the zombie movie genre. Hollywood is too afraid to make good movies these days, which is why they poor millions into making crappy remakes. I hope whatever studio was interested in making WWZ gets their act together and finds someone to make this movie, because they would be kicking themselves if it went to another studio and was a smash!

Relax guys, it hasn't been cancelled, it's being worked on.

A delayed masterpiece is better than a rushed piece of crap.

That's too bad, but hopefully they can fine tune all the details and ultimately deliver the epic zombie movie that we've been sorely missing for a long time.

This really needs to be a mini-series on HBO. Really make use of more of the book, rather than a little bit in a 90-min movie.

Like Band of Brothers, but with zombies..

Actually.... dont hate me, but i found the book quite boring apart from the detailed attack recollections.

All that crap about submarine commaders and lost people with imaginary friends on radios was nonsense.

As long as they focus on the attacks then im down with the movie. The HAVE to have the girl in the asylum who was in the church in the flick.

I have to agree with 'Mass' i cant really say much as i havent finnsihed the book yet, but so far its sooo boring, i swapped it for something else for the time-being. i look forward to reading about the girl in the asylum.. but does it get more exiting soon?
