ShockTillYouDrop.com has received the first poster for director David Slade's Cold Skin. The film is an adaptation of the best-selling Spanish novel of the same title. Jesus Olmo wrote the screenplay. The following is how the horror/psychological thriller is described:

On the edge of the Antarctic Circle, a ship approaches a desolate island far from all shipping lanes. On board is a young man, on his way to assume the post of weather observer, to live in solitude at the end of the earth.

But on shore he finds no trace of the man whom he has been sent to replace, just a deranged castaway who has witnessed a horror he refuses to name. For the next twelve months his entire world will consist of a deserted cabin, trees, rocks, silence and the surrounding sea.

Then night begins to fall...

The film is scheduled to shoot March 2010. Click on the poster for a bigger version!

kinda crazy that they have a poster already and it won't start shooting for another 10 months

SP, that is because it technically isn't a poster, but a promotional image at best. Could even be a fan-made image, as so many of them do that and send them to sites like this and believe they are actual theatrical posters, when they aren't. You won't be seeing this in theaters anytime soon, it could be a poster at some point, but at best, it is a teaser promotional image sent to websites, nothing more.

Well, I was pretty clueless of what the movie was about, but then I scrolled down, and...

So, is it some kind of killer mermaid flick?

The book that this movie is based on in freakin' amazing - it's like HP Lovecraft meets David Cronenberg. I hope Slade does the novel justice.

Cronenbergesque Lovecrafiness you say? I'll get a severe case of blue balls anticipating this flick.

I agree with dgrunert. The book is just pure awesome! David Slade better get the movie right!

Darn it. I thought that read David SPADE. Anyway... is their even a female in this movie? But from what a couple posters (from the board) has said about the book, I anticipate reading it!

Another one set in the cold? Hmm... guess there's little chance of a Weekend at Bernie's-type of setting for this guy, lol!

After seeing/reading this article I went out and read the novel and it's actually quite good. The Lovecraftian-type monsters are quite scary though the novel is more of a story on the human condition then a creature feature story but I still enjoyed it. The female creature on the one sheet actually plays a big part in the story and once you read the book and/or see the movie you'll see why Slade decided to use that on the first one-sheet besides just trying to 'titilate' horror fans.
