Hansel and Gretel are Now Witch Hunters

Source:The Hollywood Reporter

Tommy Wirkola is following up his snowbound Nazi zom-com Dead Snow with Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.

According to THR, the Norwegian director's idea focuses on "the poor siblings 15 years after that whole gingerbread house incident. Simply put, they're now specialized bounty hunters looking to put down the cackling black-hat set."

Wirkola is currently working on an outline for the producers at the Paramount-based Gary Sanchez Productions (run by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay). The project is being groomed as a potential franchise and is said to have a Shaun of the Dead and Evil Dead 2 vibe.

IFC releases Dead Snow here in the States on June 12th.

This sounded awesome until they said it's a comedy. Oh well.

This is just me....but I think that is the dumbest ****ing idea ever. It'll be a direct to dvd movie, it sounds incredibly stupid

I love this idea. Shaun of the dead and Evil Dead 2 are tough standards to live up to though. Cult classics. I would like to see a Grimm brothers feel to it though.

I actually like the concept. Although, I think it would fare better as a serious horror/action film instead of a horror film with a bit of a campy vibe. Campy is a hard line to cross if you don't do it right, and not a lot of people can successfully do campy.

Sounds cool, kinda reminds me of a Supernatural episode a little bit.

This concept has already been done. It's a comic book from Slumberland Press called Agents of the Coven.

I think this idea has possibilities. Given the subject matter, I think you could only do this movie as camp.

I've dead good things about Dead Snow so I will be checking this out if it gets off the ground.
