RIP: Actor Lou Perryman

Source:Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor
April 3, 2009

Update: Read The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Prior to that, Perryman had worked with the director in Poltergeist and was a camera assistant on the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. He also shared an assistant director credit with Sallye Richardson on Hooper's first film Eggshells.

"He was a wonderful man and was so happy to have you all in his life. He was blessed," writes Perryman's daughter, Jennifer, via his Facebook page.

When we contacted Jennifer for more details regarding his death, she provided us a link to
this local story. Although officials cannot confirm this since the case is still open, it appears Perryman was murdered in his South Austin home. His body was found yesterday and a suspect is in custody.

I double-checked the location of the crime scene and it matched Perryman's home address.

"I hope people remember his life more than his death," Jennifer told me this morning.

Perryman's credits also include The Blues Brothers, Last Night at the Alamo and Boys Don't Cry, starring Hilary Swank.

May you build us all a little fry-house in the sky, L.G.

Lou also starred in "The Whole Shooting Match" a 1978 low-budget indie that is often credited with inspiring Robert Redford to found the Sundance Institute and a major influence on Richard Linklater's decision to become a filmmaker.

I had the opportunity to meet and spend some time with him in Austin last year. He was a fascinating man and, like his "Shooting Match" character Lloyd, maintained that unique spark of creativity.

Such a waste of a great life-Lou put so much personality into his LG character. May the vile scum who did this to him suffer in hell!

It's awful enough to hear about the death of a character actor such as Lou, but hearing the circumstances makes me sick. Glad to know there is a suspect caught! R.I.P. Lou!

We Have a Horror Convention (Cinema Wasteland) going on this weekend here in Cleveland and they are having a Texas Chainsaw Massacre Reunion and Lou was supposed to attend that. Met him a few years ago at this same Convention and got an autograph and pic with him. Super Nice Friendly Guy !!! He will be sadly missed !!! R.I.P. LOU
