Teaser Art, Synopsis for Eve

Source:UHM
March 31, 2009

Baffling. Absolutely baffling.

Just yesterday we introduced you to a film called Eve by director Brian Metcalf. Sure, in the announcement we noticed some similarities between the project and Tim Seeley's ongoing comic book series "Hack/Slash," but an official synopsis for Eve has surfaced and, quite frankly, it has our jaws on the floor...

The film is set in an alternate, more seedy Los Angeles. After discovering her father was the deadliest serial killer of all time, Evelyn makes the decision to track down every psycho she can get her hands on. But these are no ordinary killers, they have supernatural advantages to them - something she must learn to adapt to. She also must learn as to why they are gathering in this city and what their evil intentions are while having to reconcile with her own past.

Okay, so that's Eve.

For those not familiar with Seeley's "Hack/Slash," the story follows a young woman named Cassie who discovers her mother was a serial killer. Cassie, haunted by the fact that she had to put her own mother down, then sets off to rid the country of slashers, beings with supernatural abilities. A film adaptation is in the works with Todd Lincoln at the helm.

Over the years we've seen two volcano movies, two movies about Mars and two asteroid movies competing for audiences' attention, I suppose there's room for two films about female slasher slayers with similar backstories. Er, right?

Here's some Red Sonja-esque teaser art courtesy of UpcomingHorrorMovies.com.

English translation of the post above..

"It's ok to steal from others in order to please the impatient."

This is typical behavior from the younger generation.

It isn't their fault. It's the text in those little white bubbles, the text causes them brain pain. Comics often use words with more than 4 letters, its just too much for them.

As for Eve, she looks like a cross between Cassie and Bloodrayne. I believe the movie industry and originality divorced sometime in 1984, maybe a lot earlier. They see each other once in awhile, sometimes they get together for a little sympathy fck. But 99% of the time, all the consumer gets is the same damn thing over and over again.

Rob Zombie's Halloween comes to mind ;).

This looks weird... Even just as a teaser... Your have Jason's mask, Ash's Chainsaw-hand, the gas mask from bloody valentine.... I cant see if freddy is also in the pile... Put again, its just weird...

So...they are trying to hurry up and release Hack/Slash themselves, just changing the name of the flick and the lead character?

This is some bull. It's a cop out move to try and capitalize on someone else's project. I really will be surprised if some sort of lawsuit isn't filed. I expect something to be filed to attempt to block the release of Eve. Anyone with half a brain can see it's the exact same movie with a name change. If I made a movie about a billionaire hero flying around in a mechanical suit called "metal man", you better believe I'd get sued by Marvel.

This is some bull. I was looking forward to Hack/Slash and this comes along to ruin that feeling. I want the Hack/Slash movie, not someone's rip off idea.

I can't believe I'm actually getting involved in all this buy hey I'm bored...

Everyone wants to scream "He Stole My Idea"...

There are no new ideas and everything is just a regurgitation of something someone already thought of years ago.

"Buffy The Vampire Slayer" without a doubt way ahead of Hack/Slash and yet the writers of that show aren't on here crying that the $%&$ Hack/Slash creators are stealing their idea. What's the difference between the two? what 1 is a vampire and 1 isn't....that's it? really?

I guess I'm just suprised that soo many people want to condemn EVE when it looks like a great movie concept and honestly if Rogue Pictures ever did release Hack/Slash in theaters I would be in line to see that one too.

Course ultimately it looks like Tim and the director of EVE are actually playing nice with each other so I guess I'm a bit late to the punch with this huh?......

Of course. Here's the real reason I want to see EVE make it to theaters :)
