Niles and Company Get Savage

The pit we call horror has belched out some monstrous battles over the last century - be it good (Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman), bad (Freddy vs. Jason or ugly (Komodo vs. Cobra).

Steve Niles (30 Days of Night), with Dan Wickline and Jeff Frank, has conceived a mash-up for Image Comics' Shadowline I'd like to play out on screen. Here, try this on for size: Bigfoot versus a pack of werewolves. Sprinkle in murderers and madmen for good measure. The battle goes down in a four-part series called Savage, illustrated by Mike Mayhew.

"As a kid, I was always more drawn to horror comics, but I've never had the opportunity return to that as an adult," said Mayhew. "Savage is my chance to take everything I loved so much about the genre and run with it. The story Steve conceived with Dan hits every note I was hungry to hit and despite this being Jeff Frank's debut, he knocks the script out of park with Dan's help. Everyone involved knows and loves horror like nobody's business."

Savage streets on October 29th.

Crossing fingers that it will be cool. Either way, it is only four parts.
