SDCC EXCL: Craven on Scream 4 Talk

Source: Ryan Rotten
July 27, 2008

The last month has kicked up a lot of Scream 4 buzz with the last update coming from franchise goof and genre movie know-it-all Jamie Kennedy. According to the actor, Dimension doesn't want to move on a sequel unless they can get three-time Scream helmer Wes Craven.

Shock caught up to the man himself this afternoon who confirms "There has been contact. I haven't spoken to Bob Weinstein but they have checked with my agent. I'm not saying 'no.'"

And what would draw him back? "It really is: Is there a script?," he says. "What I found increasingly in the Scream series is that the script were being written while we were shooting. The first one was a written script, it went out to the whole town and the Weinsteins jumped on it. There was very little changed in that. But 2 and 3? There were a lot of other people, including myself, writing on those."

More to come on future Craven projects...

Thats a big yes, the fact that he said that they have contacted his agent tells me that whatever the problem was on Cursed, it isn't going to get in the way of asking Craven back for Scream 4.

Cravens style on Scream can not be matched, Scream 3 was incredibly bad, but it looked like a Scream movie, that is because of Craven.

The writer for the Scream 4 script has said the right things in regards to the franchise and where Scream 4 would go, I like his ideas and think that he as a fan gets what we all see and want to see in part 4. Of corse I'd rather Kevin Williamson write the movie seeing as he is the one who wrote the two good ones in the series but this other guy seems to know alot more then Erhen Kruger ever did.

It looks like this is actually gonna happen, as long as Campbell doesn't become the will she or wont she prospect we have long heard about.

I am not sure if they should make a Scream 4. The series was great, and I am unsure if I want them messing with it anymore. Besides, the series might not fit well into the 2000s decade. When I think of the 90s, I think of cheesy movies like Scream. Awesome, but cheesy. Let the 90s keep Scream.
