Oh man, a remake of nightmare on elm street done right with wes cravens blessings and help could be even cooler than friday the 13th but either way i guess ill settle for friday the 13th remake
Posted by: Festy on July 27, 2008 at 17:11:37
some good things in there, some bad things.
telling us that jason is going to be smarter and bait his victims is a bit worrysome as it isnt what he is about, or has ever been about

ask them to make a freddy vs jason 2.

This is a damn shame... (SMH...)

Remaking this and Friday the 13th is the stupidest idea Hollywood has crapped out in a while.I would much rather see 2 more Saws than to remakes of a series thats been dead for over a decade now.

Well you got your wish its late i'm tired. Saw 5 is coming out, the teaser is already up.
Posted by: joe on July 27, 2008 at 22:06:38
I hope nobody wants to take part in this movie so it can be scrapped

Please, let's all work to put Platinum Dunes out of biz.
Don't see their movies, don't buy their DVD's or anything related to anything they've made.
Once you contribute to them, you say it's okay for them to do this.
Let's make horror great again by getting rid of one of the many problems.
Posted by: francesco on July 28, 2008 at 05:24:06
we don't need craven. i'm sorry for platinum dune that it's out but new line is gonna make it alone.

Stupid, and what an insult to a great horror master like Wes.
Posted by: Evan on July 28, 2008 at 16:24:24
Ha,
Now lets be honest here, there may be some light at the end of the tunnel. The remake of Hills have Eyes was great (although that movie was in more need of an update than F13). The Dawn of the Dead remake was also fantastic, and Dawn was better than F13 ever was in my opinion. Hell, I even thought Freddy v. Jason was handled admirably.
So, as long as they could keep it away from Rob Zombie or Michael Bay, it has hope.... not a lot.... but some.

please no more freddy

Wes hasn't done anything good since the original Elm Street,
he'd just **** it up probally worst than anybody else.

The thought of this makes me sick. Is the lack of creativity so great that the only thing they can think of is to re-create a classic? WTF?
Posted by: jimmyd on August 1, 2008 at 14:52:09
its simple.. these movies will be made and re-made forever. why???? cause evil never dies.. isnt that the point?

YOU GUYS THAT ALL COMPLAIN, JUST FOR THE SAKE OF DOING IT NEED TO GET A LIFE. SO THERE IS GOING TO BE RE-MAKES OF HORROR MOVIES WE ALL GREW UP WATCHING. IF YOU DONT LIKE THE IDEAS BEING THROWN AROUND THE DONT GO AND SEE IT. TELL EVERY ONE ONE THING THAT YOU HAVE DONE IN YOUR MUDAINE ROOTLES EXISTANCE THAT YOU WOULD CALL YOUR DAILY LIFE THAT PEOPLE WOULD PAY TO SEE. YOU ALL ACT LIKE A BUNCH OF UNEDUCATED RED-NECK'S. EXAMPLE, NO ONE SO FAR THAT IS ABOBE THE AGE OF 40 LIKES THE RELEASE OF THE NEW DODGE CHALLENGER OR NEW CAMARO COMING OUT. THE ONLY GOOD ONES WERE THE ONES THEY DROVE WHEN THEY WERE GROWING UP. THINGS CHANGE IN TIME, SO CHANGE WITH THE TRAIN OF TIME OR GET THE HELL OFF AND GET LEFT IN THE PAST LIKE TO OLD DRUNK AT THE BAR THAT NO ONE WANTS TO LISTEN OR TALK TO. SIMPLY BECAUSE HE LIVES IN THE PAST AND TALKS ABOUT WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN. OW BY THE WAY I AM A 28 YRS OLD AND A SGT IN THE ARMY FIGHTING IN IRAQ, THAT DOES KILL FOR A LIVING.

There should not even be a remake of Nightmare on Elm Street, especially if Wes Craven is not involved. If there were to be a remake I would love to see the humurous Freddy toned way down and love to see a much darker Freddy. The original Freddy was dark, but he can be made into a much darker character.

I heard Wes Craven was AWESOME if he's not involved I bet this movie will suck ( like most of the NMES)

"Remaking this and Friday the 13th is the stupidest idea Hollywood has crapped out in a while.I would much rather see 2 more Saws than to remakes of a series thats been dead for over a decade now."
Hey, at least the Saw movies, no matter how many there are, are original. Saw was a great concept, just as the original Nightmare was and the original Friday the 13th. The problem with the latter two is that the franchise became a joke. Freddy became a comedian, and all of a sudden, Jason was in space. The Saw franchise is the most successful horror film franchise ever. The reason for this is because each sequel has been just as insane as the first film. They haven't dumbed the movie down. It's still smart...the characters are smart. The sequels have also been unpredictable, and the film has stayed gory...not silly gory, but creepy gory. The kind of gory that makes you cringe...the kind that you don't want to look at, but you just have to.
Sorry for the rant...just getting a point across.
I really think Hollywood needs some newer blood...because the new blood they have, they're all fans...which is great to a point. It's great to draw inspiration from someone's work that you grew up admiring, but it's a whole other thing to keep doing remake after remake. And, horror isn't scary with CGI...to me, it's just cheesy...Poltergiest being the acception. I'm a big fan of good, old-fashioned, hands on special effects and make-up. There's no talent with CGI, in my opinion. Anyone can do it. It takes a true craftsman to create special effects with a few decent tools.
Okay...I'm done. I promise ;-}

If this remake of Elm Street is true, The directors and producers will have to go over and beyond to make this movie convincing to horror fans. Michael Bay is a great director, however Wes Craven needs to be involved in some capacity. If this movie can be believable (like the original was) and relate to society today, it has a huge chance.
Posted by: will on October 27, 2008 at 20:33:47
Come on now were talking bout an classic movie. if the original had wes craven then why not have him apart of this one. And that whole saw is the best horror franchise is a bunch of bull**** i belive that a an with a disfugured face and a claw is way more scarier and frightinig then a 90 year old man setting death trapz and personaly how do you let a 90 year old man capture you in the first place. It's common sense freddy is better than Jigsaw on his worst day.

This is James Gilks (owner of SerialKillerCalendar.com). Let me start by saying that I love Robert Englund. He is a talented actor and a treasure to the horror industry. That said, I really hope that he is not cast as Freddy in the new Nightmare on Elm St remake. I understand that this is practically blasphemy in the horror fan community. It is tantamount to saying that Hellraiser 1 was slow and poorly made (which it is but thats another story). The truth is that Freddy Kruger has the potential to be one of the most terrifying and truly lasting characters in horror movie history. He is a serial killer pedophile with knifes for fingers that can get to you at your most vulnerable (when your sleeping). This is pure nightmare fuel (no pun intended) and put in the right hands, this franchise could be reborn as something extremely horrific that will stand the test of time. Now, Robert Englund brings a great humor to the role and helps to dull the edge of the atrocities on the screen. I love this and the original Nightmare on Elm St series is one of my favorites. But is that really what we want? Do we truly need the horror and sheer disturbingness of this character desensitized by one liners and cheep visual gags. I honestly don’t think we do. I am hoping for a gritty, in your face realism that paints Freddy as the monster he really is. I think we would be far more impacted if the film makers drew their inspiration from real life pedophile serial killers such as Albert Fish, Peter Kurten or Carl Panzram. What we need now, in these cold and uncaring times, is a Freddy Kruger that doesn’t pull any punches. We need truly dark and devious creature who can transform our once terrifying bogyman in to something that will really give us nightmares. And, unfortunately, I just don’t think Robert Englund (who I mean no offense to) can bring us this.
Well, that’s just the opinion of someone who runs a company devoted to selling serial killer merchandise so you can take it or leave it. I hope you can all stop by SerialKillerCalendar.com to pick up some morbid merch (including the new Serial Killer Magazine, Serial Killer Trading Cards and Serial Killer Action Figures. I know, its a shameless display of self promotion but really, I have to justify reading up on Batman Movies while I am supposed to be working somehow.
