SDCC: Fans Should Expect Some Resolution in Saw VI

"Anyone who has felt slighted by the previous entries, look out," said Marcus Dunstan about the next film in the
Saw franchise this afternoon. I sat down with him at the San Diego Comic-Con to talk about his directorial debut
The Collector, with co-writer Patrick Melton, and inevitably our conversation turned to
Saw VI. They're both incredibly honest about the past films they penned and enthusiastic about the sixth entry arriving in theaters on October 23.
"[Director] Kevin Greutert is an editor but, man, he knows horror movies," said Melton.
"He knows all of the references we're making but he's very aware of controlling everything, what he'll need in the editing session. But part four was too confusing, part five wasn't confusing enough and this one hits the mark right in the middle. We have a really good 'A' story which makes all of the Tobin Bell flashbacks feel organic and not forced. There's good pacing and finally there's a resolution. Finally. Six could be done and that's it, there could be no more. In terms of the John Kramer storyline, we put a nice bow on it. It's fulfilling for people, I think."
Dunstan agrees and believes the film works on another level as well.
"It's also timely. There are a couple of elements to the story that take advantage of our current climate."
Returning cast members include Costas Mandylor, Mark Rolston, Betsy Russell, Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith. Then there's newcomer Peter Outerbridge.
"He's great in this," said Melton.
"He plays a character named William and him and Tobin, they're connected. Deeply connected. They have a wonderful back and forth. This film just feels more intimate than the other ones."
Last week, Melton and Dunstan signed up to write
Saw VII for returning director David Hackl. And they hinted that there will definitely be some new surprises in store if all goes right.

"Some" resolution means enough to satisfy but not enough to stop at Saw VI.

Let me edit my previous statement. "Some" resolution means enough to satisfy but not enough to stop at Saw VI though it sounds like he says there is finally a resolution.

I can't buy this because there has already been plenty of talk about Saw VII. Ah...a series that will never end. Unfortunately.

They say resolution, what they really mean is ultimate retribution on a larger scale than just the unnamed city the series takes place in. Jigsaw's message on a national or international scale. They've hinted this before with the magazine covers and the fantastic new tagline, "His disease is spreading..."

Quote: "i mean when will they learn"
I could have said the same exact thing, huzzy.
But after the umpteenth "Saw", I'm more prone to say:
"When will *I* ever learn."

Well maybe Saw VI ends on this timeline (therefore actually having a saisfying ending), where as Saw VII could be a flashback/parallel side story, which suits both the ones who want the sries to end, and the ones who want it to continue...

This is such a smart move, and what should we expect from Saw VII ? New questions and here we go again with neverending sequels ?! C'mon !

Keep them coming!!
No need to be gory! Just smart as always!!

I think it will end with the death of Jigsaw!!
....Oh yeah, I forgot. That happened three movies ago.

Since they already started writing Saw VII, I can't wait to see how they get past the resolution and set up the next installment.

See the thing is that movies 1 through 6 all show (as we find out) that any one can do what Jon Kramer did, since he "trained" others to do it even after he was gone. Any one can copy cat it and make it their own, and thats probably how 7 will go, but it'll probably be in a whole new city whole new set of characters AND a whole new reason to shed some blood.
So do we remember the Motion Poster we got to see recently where it said his disease is spreading? well that might explain it.

They said tobin bell ending will be resolved .. you ll understand him better and there will be no need to go on more about him. Even though they probably will since i ve been hereing he is on for 8 movies.
