AFM '08: Arclight Dips into Lake Mungo

November 8, 2008

Lake Mungo AFM artArclight Films' division Darclight is taking a new genre offering entitled Lake Mungo out to the American Film Market.

This completed Australian production is written and directed by Joel Anderson, making his feature debut, and stars Rosie Traynor, David Pledger, Martin Sharpe, Talia Zucker and Steve Jodrell.

Woven into a documentary "that illustrates how the dead can forever haunt the living," Mungo picks up with the accidental drowning of a 16-year-old girl. When her body is recovered, her grieving family buries her only to experience a series of strange and inexplicable events centered in and around their home. Profoundly unsettled, the Palmers seek the help of a psychic and parapsychologist who discovers that Alice led a secret, double life. A series of clues lead the family to Lake Mungo where Alice's secret past emerges.

Anderson previously directed a short film entitled The Rotting Woman.
