Bryan Singer fired up the fanboy community today with the announcement of another X-Men film, but news also broke of another project he’s involved with: The Taking.
Directed by Adam Robitel, the film was written by Robitel and Heffernan, says Deadline. The movie lensed on the down-low. The site adds that the plot surrounds a small Southern community where something supernatural takes place.
Surprisingly, Tommy Wirkola’s sequel to Dead Snow, Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead, is heading to Sundance. Some official photos have floated in and we have them for you here.
When we spoke to Wirkola about the film over the summer, he told us: “[In Dead Snow] the first half is a classical horror movie, the second half goes nuts. With Dead Snow 2, it starts right where the first film left off and is full throttle from beginning to end. Basically, the Nazi zombies decide to invade Northern Norway again, it’s just crazy.”
Earlier this year, one of the films I was happy to visit was Cooties, a film by Jonathan Millott and Cary Murnion that was scripted by Insidious’ Leigh Whannell and Ian Brennan.
Starring Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson, Alison Pill, Jack McBrayer, Whannell and Nasim Pedrad, the film concerns a mysterious virus that hits an isolated elementary school and transforms the students into a feral swarm of mass savages. In other words, creepy lil’ kids going batshit crazy
The film is playing to Sundance audiences next month and we’ve landed the first three publicity stills promoting this quirky flick.
Sundance Institute announced today the films selected to screen in the 2014 Sundance Film Festival out-of-competition section Park City at Midnight.
The Festival takes place January 16-26 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.Trevor Groth, Director of Programming for the Sundance Film Festival, said, “The films in the sections announced today round out our 2014 Sundance Film Festival program and further reflect the depth and diversity of modern independent filmmaking that will satisfy everyone from festival fledglings to fanatics.”
