Tremors 5 Sees Return of Series Regular

tremors-1990-graboid-2Moviehole usually has a firm finger on the pulse of all things direct-to-DVD. They scored some good intel when Curse of Chucky came along, I recall, so they’ve obviously got their connections, which is why I don’t see any reason not to run with their latest scoop on that Tremors reboot we reported on earlier.

If you recall, that report stated Don Michael Paul was going to be helming a new film for Universal’s home video division. Not too many details were revealed other than that it would lens in South Africa.

Moviehole says the title on the front of the script reads Tremors 5 and Michael Gross will be reprising his role as survivalist Burt Gummer.

Gummer was always a fan favorite, and a staple of the series, so I can see why he’s back.

So, it sounds like this is more of a “reboot” in story only. It’s staying canon, just freshening the series up with some new and old cast members and a new scenario. Stay tuned for more as it comes in.

As bad as they can get, they’re never too bad to not watch. Burt Gummer is hilarious. His demeanor changed greatly in the second film and I feel like Tremors can easily be labeled a comedy film series now because of it.

    • Max Shreck

I still quote Burt Gummer from the second movie, when after he barely survives a violent initial attack by the small walking monsters when only thinking he was going after worms, find’s Fred Ward’s character and says “I feel I was denied .. critical …. need to know … information.”
His delivery sold it better than my typing lol.

He had a great line in the third one too: “What kind of benevolent God could condone such cruel irony?”

  • Eizzy IceBorne

Please no. I still love the first one and also enjoy part 2, but the third movie turned out to be crap and that last film was even intolerable in every minute.

I think what you described in the last paragraph is more commonly known as a “sequel”

    • RTurek

Yes, I know that. Initial reports pegged it at a remake. Reboot/sequel/remake – the semantics are being mixed up and I was merely elaborating on our previous story, but thank you.

Hmmm… The other movies were so good because they were largely made by the same people. The directors of 2-4 had been involved in writing/producing the films from the beginning. So I’m not sure about the idea of bringing in an outsider for this one.

I’m so pumped. I have been waiting for this day since they did the prequel in 2003/2004. Which is good but not great, where as 1 & 2 were awesome, and 3 was goofy but I still enjoyed it because of the humor aspect. I have hoped for and waited for a 5th for 10 years. this couldn’t have made my day any better

Any Graboid is a good Graboid!

Everyone’s talking about the movies but I loved the TV series, too. Gummer was great in every incarnation of this concept.
