Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies), Kyle Gallner (Jennifer’s Body), Kevin J. O’Connor (Deep Rising) and Oliver Platt (Lake Placid) are joining Johnny Galecki and Anjelica Huston for The Master Cleanse, a horror-comedy from writer-director Bobby Miller.
Shooting has begun in Vancouver. Fiel is replacing Chloe Sevigny who had to bow out of the project.
After holding onto heartbreak for several years, Paul (Galecki) decides to restart his life, joining a spiritual retreat designed to cleanse negative toxins from his body. But things take a turn when Paul and the other participants discover that the cleanse releases something far greater than everyday toxins and traumatic experiences.
The film is described as “a soulful and humorous blend of Cronenberg body-horror and old-school Amblin.”
The Master Cleanse is being produced by Jordan Horowitz for Gilbert Films, Aaron L. Gilbert for Bron Studios and Johnny Galecki for his Alcide Bava Pictures. The executive producers are Gary Gilbert, Todd Masters, Margot Hand and John Raymonds.
