20th Century Fox Takes You into The Pyramid This December

gregory-levasseur-photo-4fd9f78c4b298Gregory Levasseur – co-writer of High Tension, P2The Hills Have Eyes and Maniac (pictured here on the far right) – is making his directorial debut with The Pyramid. It’s a thriller that has sort of snuck up on us as we’re learning today that 20th Century Fox will release it in theaters on December 5th. The film was formerly known as Site 146.

Removal‘s Daniel Meersand and Nick Simon penned the script, meanwhile, Levasseur’s creative partner Alexandre Aja produced with Mark Canton and Scott Silver. Ashley Hinshaw, Denis O’Hare, James Buckley, Christa Nicola and Daniel Amerman star.

Here’s a synopsis we mustered up from Silvatar Media, one of the companies on board the project:

A team of U.S. archaeologists unearths an ancient pyramid buried deep beneath the Egyptian desert. As they search the pyramid’s depths, they become hopelessly lost in its dark and endless catacombs. Searching for a way out, they become desperate to seek daylight again. They come to realize they aren’t just trapped, they are being hunted.

    sound like another fobia flick?

I guessed they were being hunted as soon as I saw they were lost. Yep, sure enough, they’re being hunted. This story structure is so old and tiresome.

Every story was told over and over…it takes a masterful screenwriter to make it different. These writers are masters.

Saw a test screening. Not good. No story. Found footage doesn’t ad anything. Only one good death.
