Since Jennifer's Body, I've been waiting for some time for director Karyn Kusama to return to the genre scene. She's attached to the all-female horror anthology XX, but I haven't heard much progress on that since Shock was the first to break the news about that film last fall.
She currently at work on The Invitation, which she boarded in 2012. At that time, the film was going to star Zachary Quinto and Luke Wilson. The Wrap reports, however, that the initial cast is gone and now Marieh Delfino (Jeepers Creepers 2) and Logan Marshall-Green are set to star.
On a dark night, Will (Marshall-green) is invited to his estranged ex-wife’s dinner party. Over the course of the evening, he is gripped by mounting evidence that something insidious has taken hold of his ex-wife, and that she and her new friends have a mysterious and horrifying agenda. By the end of the night, the ramifications of what happens in this house will spread far beyond its doors.
Tammy Blanchard, John Carroll Lynch and Michelle Krusiec will also star. Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi scripted the film which is being produced by XYZ Films and Martha Griffin.
Shooting begins this month.
