New Promo Art for Hellraiser: The Series & Why It Could Work Today

Hellraiser the SeriesBefore television saw a wave of film-to-small screen horror shows like HannibalFrom Dusk Till Dawn and Bates Motel reach the screen, Sonar Entertainment announced its intention – in 2012 – to do Hellraiser: The Series.

There was some promo art that accompanied that announcement, but I happened upon a new piece of key art - courtesy of Michael Golob Design – that I don't believe anyone has seen before.

Hellraiser: The Series never came to fruition – it's been over two years since it was first mentioned – but I can see something like this finding a modicum of success in today's television climate.

I've been saying repeatedly that "television shows" are the new fad over "remakes." Taking us deeper into the mythology of the Cenobites by way of a series feels right. The comic books of the late-'80s/early-'90s explored the world via the anthology format.

It would be interesting to see Cinemax or Showtime (probably Cinemax) take this on and give it a home.

Don't hire husky Pinhead from Hellraiser: Revelations. He was the worst.

I suspect the notion of a series is dead at this point, but with shows like Firestarter and other horror fare reaching TV, perhaps Hellraiser: The Series will find renewed interest.

This would make me subscribe to premium channels. I hope it happens as well as a reboot.

Nothing remotely good will happen with this series so long as the Weinstein Bros. have the rights.
