Another Firestarter Sequel is in the Works, Now at TNT

file_171537_0_firestarter_coverFirestarter lives on. TNT is saying, "Hey, forget that 2002 sequel Firestarter 2: Rekindled" by announcing today that it will forge ahead with its own follow-up entitled The Shop.

"Firestarter" is a Stephen King novel that was adapted for the big screen in 1984 by Mark Lester and it starred Drew Barrymore and David Keith as a father and daughter on the run from "The Shop" which wanted to harness their otherwordly abilities (he could control minds and she was a pyrokinetic). This paved the way for the aforementioned sequel in 2002 on the Sci-Fi Channel (now SyFy).

I thought I heard rumblings at one time that a film reboot was in development somewhere, but I could be wrong about that.

According to TV LineThe Shop

…centers on the titular organization that once exploited the pyrokinetic abilities of a young girl named Charlie McGee. Twenty years after bringing The Shop to its knees, Charlie has been tracked down by one of its former members, Henry Talbot, who reveals that The Shop is alive and badder than ever, unleashing terrifying new entities into the world. It’s now up to Talbot, Charlie and others like her to find The Shop and destroy it for good.

Horror on TV lives on, folks! Here's my co-host William Bibbiani and I talking about the original film in our Kings of Horror â€‹series.
